[Governor] I'm Governor Steve Beshear with Attorney General Jack Conway ... About Kentucky.
Attorney General Conway and I recently announced that $32 million from settlements with two
pharmaceutical companies will be used to expand substance abuse treatment in Kentucky.
[AG Conway] The funds will complete construction of a Recovery Kentucky Center in Ashland,
provide about 900 scholarships to Recovery Kentucky treatment centers, and fund transitional
housing for Recovery Kentucky graduates.
[Governor] It will also fund two centers that treat expectant mothers for addiction.
Plus, the University of Kentucky will utilize funds to train addiction specialists on the
best practices of juvenile substance abuse treatment.
[AG Conway] $19 million dollars will help create and expand juvenile treatment facilities
across Kentucky.
[Governor] I created the Substance Abuse Treatment Advisory Committee, chaired by Attorney General
Conway, to administer the grant program.
[AG Conway] The application process is now open, and we're looking for innovative ideas
that provide a continuum of care for juveniles.
[Governor] The submissions can come from existing treatment facilities, new providers, community
partnerships and non-profit organizations.
[AG Conway] To apply or learn more about the requirements, visit ag.ky.gov/kykidsrecovery.
[Governor] The deadline is March 31st. I'm Governor Steve Beshear with Attorney General
