Hello, I'm Kimberly Ford with the office of Student Financial Assistance at the Maryland
Higher Education Commission. What's unique about you? Your uniqueness could qualify you
for a scholarship. For this video, I will be sharing information on the state of Maryland's
Unique Population financial aid program. These programs require to you be enrolled in a Maryland
institution, and include the Jack F. Tolbert Memorial student grant program, which is need-based
for private career school students. Applications are completed through the school. The Edward
T. Conroy memorial scholarship assists disabled veterans, children of veterans, state and
local public safety employees, and their families, that were disabled or killed in the line of
duty. And surviving spouses or children of 9/11 victims, veterans of Afghanistan and
Iraq conflicts, as well as their spouses and children, tuition waiver for foster care recipients,
tuition waiver for community college students with disabilities who receive Social Security
disability benefits, in-state tuition for military veterans, active duty service members,
and National Guard members. Don't forget to file the free application for student aid,
the FAFSA for short, by March 1st of each year to apply for most Unique Population programs.
