Today, I wish to talk to you about the "Best Moustaches of the Mexican Revolution"
The first one I want to tell you about is, of course,
General Porfirio Diaz's moustache.
You can see him there. He has a spectacular moustache. It's white, and this colour grants
a lot of style to the moustache. This man was born on the 15th of September
of 1830.
He died on the 2nd of July of 1915 and was the Mexican President for more than 30 years.
From 1876 to 1911.
And since this man was a fan of French culture,
and as a matter of fact he died in Paris,
he imported the idea of growing 'handlebar moustaches'
from Europe into México, and as you can see there, he had a fantastic moustache.
The next one is Mr. José Doroteo Arango Arámbula's.
José Doroteo Arango Arámbula, better known as
Francisco Villa, or Pancho Villa.
Usually, when we think of Mexican moustaches, we tend to think of
Pancho Villa's
on the screen,
but in reality, I don't like his moustache very much.
It could be better, eh? And much better is Emiliano Zapata's.
Emiliano Zapata
- The Caudillo of the South - was born in Morelos
on August 8th, 1879, and died
on April 10th, 1919.
And a very interesting fact about Zapata that not many people know is that
he spoke
Náhuatl
fluently.
He also spoke Spanish, of course,
but this is an interesting fact, and not everyone knows it.
Another very good moustache from the time of our revolution,
or a little later,
is Álvaro Obregón's,
who was president from 1920 to 1924.
He was born on February 19th, 1880 and died on July 17th, 1928.
And as you see there, his moustache had nothing to envy anyone else's.
Another famous moustache is, of course, Francisco I. Madero's.
The man who began the Revolution in México.
He coined the phrase "Effective Suffrage. No Reelection", and it is because of him
that we have no re-elections in México.
Francisco I. Madero's moustache is not great. It is nice, but
the beard that he would wear
drew attention away from his moustache.
That's my impression. However, his is still a very good moustache.
This man was born on October 30th, 1873,
and died assassinated on February 22nd, 1913.
And now, at last, the best moustache in my opinion, during the times
of the Mexican Revolution
is Venustiano Carranza's. You can see him there.
His moustache is fantastic. I like it a lot.
It is a little bit messy, but that gives him a more
'intellectual' appearance. As you know, this man wrote
the current Mexican Constitution
back in the year 1917.
And he has the best moustache, in my humble opinion, during the times
of the Mexican Revolution.
And well, these are the "Best Moustaches of the Mexican Revolution".
If anyone has any other suggestion, please do comment.
I hope you liked the video and found it interesting.
And please everyone, grow out your moustaches. Remeber that in México,
moustaches are part of our national identity. Muchísimas Gracias.
¡Hasta luego!
