In this clip for teaching hip-hop dance to kids we'll be talking about locking. Locking
is a really fun art form within hip-hop dance for kids because it's all about being lose
and having a lot of fun. You always want to smile a lot, and you always want to be hunched
over. You never want to be upright. Whenever they do it, they're always hunched over. So
let me see, you guys, hunch over, and have big smiles on your face. Alright? That's how
you want to be, really lose. Locking came from California as well. It's part of the
funk and Boogaloo styles. The first person to invent it was a person names Don Cambellock.
He was trying to do the Funky Chicken, but in trying to do it he then started doing locking
instead. Locking consists of a lot of different things such as wrist rolls, points, or locking.
And locking is a really, really fun art form for, again, for kids, and for having them
just loosen up and have a lot of fun. (Locking dance demo)
