Section sixty-two and seventy-nine
provide for an incorporated association or its committee to hold a meeting using
"any technology that allows members to clearly and simultaneously communicate
with other participating members at a general meeting or committee meeting."
In addition to proxies, these sections of the Act also recognise votes taken through such technology.
Examples include video or telephone conferencing, webinars, Skype and Facebook.
Email, on the other hand,
would not usually satisfy these requirements
as it does not allow clear and simultaneous communication.
However, email can be used
in order to nominate to the chair a proxy for voting prior to a meeting,
provided this method accords with the association's rules.
