New library search replaces the library catalogue and the eLibrary, because it searches for books AND journal articles at the same time!
Let's search for something .... on social media, for example.
You get thousands of results sorted by Relevance.
You get journal articles in Full Text Online, and others with Citation Online, and books plus other content types too such as DVDs.
You can preview an item by hovering over it and clicking on the magnifying glass to show the abstract of a journal article.
Once you have found an item you really want, you can save it by clicking on its 'save this item' icon and you save as many items as you like!
If you want to keep the list of saved items you need to export the list ...to your e-mail account for example, or even to RefWorks!
But be aware the 'Harvard' used is not UWE Harvard!
New library search contains our complete library catalogue, most of our online journals subscriptions and ...
...links to hundreds of millions of journal articles that we don't subscribe to.
You can find these by ticking 'Add results beyond your library's collection'.
You won't be able to access the full text of these extra articles, but we could still get an article for you.
Click on 'Request material not held by UWE'.
When off-campus you can use New library search without logging in,
but you will be prompted to log in when connecting to a journal article or ebook, or you can simply opt to log in whilst doing a search.
A few search tips to get you off to a good start!
