I’m Colin Aurelius, I’m the managing director of TDB Networks
Well we first looked at business coaching because
we’d reached a critical point in the companies development.
So we were looking to move into a new line of business and
we wanted the coaching programme to be able deliver on that strategy.
One of the things for me was that it was almost a given having
met the coaches early on
that the quality and the experience that they bring to the programme.
So it allows you to concentrate on actually getting benefit from the relationship.
Well the main area that we were working on was really tying up
the relationship between the operational performance
and the strategic direction of the business that we’d set
and getting both parts of that equation lined up.
But in more general terms it was aligning all elements of the business
to make sure we were successful moving forward.
And the coaching process helped hugely with that.
We found this a real advantage both in terms of the relationship
with the coach directly but also
some of the other business managers who attended the course.
Well the main issue we were facing was around the
stretching of the management team in developing a new line of business
and aligning the operational challenges
with the strategic objectives and just tying those two together
is very powerful and once you’ve got that feeling of trust,
being able to just put the problems out on the table
and start to work on the real priority issues at a strategic level.
