So when I asked you to send me items for my notice board,
I wasn’t entirely sure how successful it would be.
I thought that, perhaps, every time I did an “Update” video
that I would have one or two postcards to show you.
Well, just a couple of weeks in,
I’m having to separate this out into a series of its own.
That’s how much stuff you’ve been sending me!
And it’s great! Keep it coming, please: the more the merrier!
So, let’s see what you’ve got for me this time.
Now, this is a roseate spoonbill,
sent to my by Richard in Florida.
That’s magnificent.
Andreas sent me some views of Magdeburg, the capital city of Saxony-Anhalt.
Last time, I received things from Gayle and Janelle, both from Colorado.
And Janelle has sent me this card,
to explain that it’s not really a coincidence at all:
there’s a family connection there. So that clears that one up.
I got this from Selina.
It’s a work of art of some sort called “Gotthardtunnel”,
and she says she got it from a poetry slammer,
which makes this possibly the most cultural item so far.
She asks me what I think of the German language.
That’s quite a difficult question to answer.
I think it’s not as bad as its reputation.
Also, it’s very useful for ordering food in pubs in German-speaking countries.
OK, this is from... TJ? Can I call you that?
It shows crops growing in central Illinois,
where, TJ tells me, all that isn’t corn is soybeans.
Well, the world needs corn and soybeans.
This one is anonymous.
It shows some sort of regatta. It doesn’t say where.
But it was posted in the Rostock postal district,
so I’m guessing it’s somewhere up there on the Baltic.
And finally, this one is from Edward
in the historic city of Soest,
a place I have never been to, but it does look... historic.
So thank you, everybody: that it absolutely fantastic.
So far, everything I’ve received has come from either Germany or the United States,
so the rest of the world has a little bit of catching up to do.
But anything that anybody can send me — absolutely wonderful.
This is the address to send me stuff.
Remember that I can only accept letters and postcards;
please don’t send me packages,
and please don’t send me anything that has to be signed for.
And I look forward to the next batch.
