>> Good day, Internet people. My name is Ryan. You are watching
Skyrim.
There are wooly mammoths over there I think. I am going to go and have a look. We just
got out of a cave. It was pretty cool, that cave. Killed some guys, got some stuff.
Oh my god, they're mammothy.
Oh.
>> Kill it! Kill it! >> Yeah, no. I'm not going to kill it.
I'm not going to do that.
I just wanted to look
because they're pretty.
I like giants. They make me happy.
They don't like me though and I don't know why despite the fact that I look incredibly
menacing. Hi. Hello.
OK, I'm going. Fine.
I bet you're smelly.
You know, I suppose one of these days I should probably go and speak to the Jarl.
But that'll happen when it happens.
>> We've been awaiting your return.
>> Why were you waiting for me?
>> Come. Follow me.
>> Oh. You're hustling and bustling. This must be important.
Oh, there's a group. There's a group of people. Oh dear.
They're going to *** me because I use magic and not swords.
Hi.
>> Brothers and sisters of the circle. Today we welcome a new soul to our mortal fold.
This man has endured as challenged and has shown his valour. Who will speak for him?
>> I will stand witness to the courage of the soul before us.
>> Would you raise your shield in his defence?
>> I would stand at his back, that the world might never overtake us.
>> And would your raise your sword at his honour?
>> It stands ready to meet the blood of his foes.
>> And would you raise a mug in his name?
>> I would lead the song of triumph as our mead hall revelled in his stories.
>> Then the judgement of this circle is complete. His heart beats with fury and courage that
have united the Companions since the days of the distant green summers. Let it beat
with ours, that the mountains may echo and our enemies may tremble at the call.
>>> It shall be so.
>> Well boy, you're one of us now. I trust you won't disappoint.
>> I hope not.
So, is it true that Companions can be werewolves?
>> I see you have been allowed to know some secrets before your appointed time. No matter.
Yes, it's true. Not every Companion, though. Only members of the circle all share the blood
of the beast. Some take to it more than others.
>> What about you?
>> Well, I grow old. My mind turns towards the horizon, to Sovngarde. I worry that Skjor
won't call an animal to glory as he would a true Nord warrior. Living as beasts draws
our souls closer to the Daedric lord Hircine. Some may prefer an eternity in his hunting
grounds but I crave the fellowship of Sovngarde.
>> You're looking to cure yourself?
>> Yes, but it's no easy matter. But you don't need to share the worries of an old warrior.
This day's to rejoice in your bravery. And speak to Eorlund if you want a better weapon
than... whatever that is.
My fists, that fire shoot from?
Just saying.
I will speak to people, but it is time for sleep I believe.
>> What brings you to me? Find some strange creature in your travels?
>> I'm just asking, what does it mean to be a Companion?
>> There's been a group called the Companions for over four thousand years. It's been many
different things in that time. A conquering army, ruthless mercenaries, a band of drunken
louts, and the esteemed company you see before you. But there's always been a kind of honour
to it. We don't deal in politics or underhanded sneaking. We try to uphold the legacy of Ysgramor,
to bear his good name such that it never be forgotten and always be spoken with reverence.
>> Hm. Do you have any work for me?
>> We've received a desperate missive. A citizen of Eastmarch has been kidnapped. The Companions
have been asked for assistance and we shall answer. Particularly when the pay is as good
as this. Get moving. I shudder to think what might happen if you're too late.
>> Eastmarch?
Well I better hustle and bustle, shouldn't I?
>> I think by now I've killed one of every living thing in Skyrim. It may be time for
a trip to Morrowind.
>> Oh you have got to be kidding me. That far?
>> I'm not doing that right away. I'm going to get a few things done in town first.
The simple fact is I've been putting of speaking to the Jarl for long enough. I should go in
and tell him about what I've seen.
>> Jarl Balgruuf is not receiving visitors.
>> I have news from Helgen about the dragon attack.
>> Well, that explains why the guards let you in. Come on, then. The Jarl will want
to speak to you personally.
>> Hello, Mr. Jarl.
>> So, you were at Helgen. You saw this dragon with your own eyes.
>> Yes. The dragon destroyed Helgen and last I saw it was heading this way.
>> By Ysmir, Irileth was right! What do you say now, Preventus? Shall we continue to trust
in the strength of our walls against the dragon?
>> My lord, we should send troops to Riverwood at once. It's in the most immediate danger.
If that dragon is lurking in the mountains.
>> The Empire will assume provocation! He will assume we are ready to join Ulfric's
side and attack him! We should not-
>> Enough! I'll not stand idly by while a dragon burns my hold and slaughters my people.
Irileth, send a detachment to Riverwood at once.
>> Yes, my Jarl.
>> If you'll excuse me, I'll return to my duties.
>> That would be best.
>> Well done. You sought me out, on your own initiative. You've done Whiterun a service
and I won't forget it. Here, take this as a small token of my esteem. There is another
thing you could do for me, suitable for someone of your particular talents, perhaps. Come,
let's go find Farengar, my court wizard. He's been looking into a matter related to these
dragons and rumours of dragons.
>> OK.
I do enjoy the Nords more than I do the Imperials.
>> Farengar, I think I've found someone that can help you with your dragon project. Go
ahead and fill him in on all the details.
>> So the Jarl thinks that you can be of use to me? Oh yes, he must be referring to my
research into the dragons. Yes, I could use someone to fetch something for me. Well, when
I say fetch, I really mean delve into a dangerous ruin in search of an ancient stone tablet
that may or may not actually be there.
>> Alright. Where am I going and what am I fetching?
>> Straight to the point, eh? No need for tedious hows and whys, I like that. Leave
those details to your betters, am I right? I learned of a certain stone tablet said to
be housed in Bleak Falls Barrow. A dragonstone, said to contain a map of dragon burial sites.
Go to Bleak Falls Barrow. Find this tablet, no doubt entombed the main chamber, and bring
it to me. Simplicity itself.
>> Oh, you mean this one that I already have?
>> Ah! The dragonstone of Bleak Falls Barrow! You already found it? You're cut from a different
cloth than the usual brutes the Jarl foists on me.
>> So... what next?
>> That is where your job ends and mine begins. The work of the mind. Sadly undervalued in
Skyrim.
>> Farengar!
... You should come too.
>> A dragon. How exciting? Where was it seen? What was it doing?
>> I'd take this a bit more seriously if I were you. If a dragon decides to attack Whiterun,
I don't know if we can stop it.
>> Oh no.
>> Let's go.
>> This certainly is a great porch.
Oh, I have business with you, Preventus.
>> The Jarl is, as you can imagine, very busy. The task of steward is more important than
you realise. The Jarl often asks for my invalu...
>> Yes, yes, yes, you are the greatest person ever. The bandit leader at Silent Moons Camp
is dead. I am here for the bounty.
>> Excellent. You've done us a great service. Here is your reward.
>> Look at that. A hundred whole gold. Wow. I also have a sword for you, from your daughter.
>> From Adrienne? Ah, this must be that weapon for the Jarl. Poor girl, so easy to prove
herself. I'll present it to Balgruuf when his mood is... agreeable. Thank you. Please,
take these few coins for services rendered.
>> Thank you. I think that's everything.
>> Enjoy your visit to Dragonsreach.
>> Oh, I wish it was under better circumstances.
>> There's no time to stand on ceremony, my friend. I need your help again. I want you
to go with Irileth and help her fight this dragon. You survived Helgen, so you have more
experience with dragons than anyone else here but I haven't forgotten the service you did
for me in retrieving the Dragonstone for Farengar. As a token of my esteem, I have instructed
Avonicci that you are now permitted to purchase property in the city and please accept this
gift from my personal armament.
>> I don't...
>> I've seen you helping the Jarl. If only all visitors to Whiterun were as noble.
>> ...to defend the city against these dragons...
>> They say Ulfric Stormcloak murdered the king with his voice. Shouted him apart.
>> Arnold.
>> Don't worry, milord. I am the very sword of caution.
>> Oh my god. Oh my god. OK.
If they knew what happened...
>> I envy you the chance to see this dragon up close.
>> All I did was run from it. I can't, I don't think I can fight it. It's so big.
>> A dragon is attacking the western watchtower.
>> What!? >> Now we're in for it.
>> You heard right. I said a dragon. I don't much care where it came from or who sent it.
What I do know is that it's made the mistake of attacking Whiterun.
>> But Housecarl...
>> I'm as much a Nord as the next man but I'm no fool! I don't live in the past like
those Grey-Manes!
>> ...but we are honour bound to fight it. Even if we fail. This dragon is threatening
our homes. Our families.
>> I work with my mother, sell fruits and vegetables. It's fun most days, but hard work.
>> What are you looking at!? I'm not afraid of you, even if you are my elder.
>> ...Think of it! The first dragon seen in Skyrim since the last age!
The glory of killing it is ours if you're with me! Now what do you say!? Shall we go
kill us a dragon!?
>>> Yeah! >> Damn right!
>> Let's move out.
>> Well then. That was almost a good speech. We're going to have to make that an episode,
Internet people. Next time...
a dragon will happen.
Dear lord. Thanks for watching, Internet people. Thanks for watching.
