If you need to create a survey,
there are free online tools
that can help you create survey questions,
collect answers, and even analyze the results for you.
Let's use Survey Money as an example
to see how easy it is to create survey questions.
First, go to www.surveymonkey.com and sign up for a free Basic account.
A free account allows you to create up to 10 questions and collect 100 responses for
each survey.
Once you have logged in,
you can create a survey by clicking on the "Create Survey" link on the top right.
There are three options to create a new survey:
you can start from scratch,
copy from an existing survey you have already created,
or use a survey template.
Let's start from scratch.
First give your survey a title.
For example, I am going to create a survey about eating habits.
So I enter "Eating habits" as the title, and click continue.
I am going to create the first question,
so I click "Add a question".
Click on the drop down menu to choose a question type.
I want to collect the age of my respondents,
so I choose "Multiple Choice" with only one answer.
My question will be "What is your age group?"
Then I type in the answer options.
I put each option in a separate line.
Then, save the question.
Now you can see what the first question looks like.
Now I want to add a new question.
I want to ask what meals my respondents eat every day.
Since there will be more than one choice,
I will create a multiple choice question with multiple answers.
My questions is "Which of the following meals do you consume every day?"
Again, I list each answer option in a separate line.
Then, save the question.
Now I have created two questions.
As you can see, the formats are a little different.
The first question allows only one answer.
The second question allows more than one answer.
To edit your questions,
you can simply go to that question and click "edit question".
You can also move the answers around or delete them.
You can preview your questions by clicking on the Preview button on the top right.
You can also create a custom theme, or choose other options.
Once you have created a survey, you are ready to collect responses.
If you prefer to conduct your survey in paper format,
you can click "Print Survey" on the left to print out your survey.
It is nice and clean with a professional look.
If you want to collect responses online
and have the answers automatically analyzed,
you can click on "Collect Responses" at the top.
You can get a link to send in your email,
put on a Web page,
and even share the survey on Facebook to collect responses.
Enter a name for your link,
so that you know what the link is for,
particularly if you are going to create more than one survey.
Now, you get the link to your survey.
After each respondent answers the survey,
you can see the result analysis by clicking "Analyze Results".
This gives you accurate results and
can save you lots of time compared to analyzing the responses manually.
You can even download the responses to your computer.
Survey Monkey is easy to use, useful, and free.
If you don't like this one, there are other free online survey tools you can use.
Have fun creating your survey.
