85 percent of Ugandans are Christians
and 12 are Muslims
so most people are religious.
So, relate their homosexuality
with their religion, it has been real cumbersome.
But we are trying to make awareness
in our own communities;
people to gain self-esteem.
That's why now we've come so much on board.
Maybe, if you'd asked me
why are they bringing the bill now,
it is because of our visibility
and we have come out on several occassions
to fight for our inclusion
into the government's health study design programs,
to reach out because we also suffer from ***
and need these services.
We need the doctors
and the medical service providers to be
aware of our presence,
not ask us 'go bring your partner'
and when we bring you another man
then you retreat and you don't
go back in there.
But now they are accepting a trend to go find some
friendly service providers.
So now if the bill passes
because they are going to arrest
anyone who gives medicine to me,
and who gives services to me,
is going to be arrested
because it is 'promoting' homosexuality.
So where are we going to run to?
