Brazil and Italy. With nine World Cups between them they are the two most successful countries
in the tournament's history.
It may only be a friendly when the two sides meet in Geneva on Thursday evening, but it
promises to be a mouthwatering encounter between two giants of the game.
The five times world champions Brazil suffered defeat to England in their last outing - and
will be looking for a much needed confidence boost.
Italy have not beaten Brazil since the World Cup in 1982 but Brazil boss Phil Scolari was
keen to stress that the Italians will be a major threat next summer.
"I think Italy is among the 6 teams who stand higher chances to win the World Cup title
in 2014. Italy has dramatically renewed its team, with good athletes, yet it has remained
true to its traditional way of playing."
Brazil and Italy will also meet in the group phase of the Confederations Cup in June.
