BEHIND THE SCENES GAMEBLAST
This week, Behind The Scenes brings you details of a very special weekend of gaming as we introduce GameBlast.
GameBlast is a 24-hour gaming marathon to raise money for a charity we care a lot about, Special Effect.
Special Effect are a charity who enable people with disabilities to play video games, something we all take for granted.
By doing the marathon you will be able to help us to help hundreds of people with severe disabilities
to get the same kind of fun, friendship, inclusion, motivation and excitement that you get through video games.
We've already helped out Special Effect in the past with the Well of Good Will promotion
and this time we were really keen to get involved with their GameBlast initiative.
GameBlast will be running from the 21st till the 23rd of February.
You'll see gamers from all over the world raising money for Special Effect by playing their favourite games for 24 hours straight.
So we're going to be live streaming a 24 hour gaming marathon.
During the event a group of Jmods and players will play RuneScape nonstop for 24 hours which marks our longest ever official live stream.
There'll be in-game challenges, activities and events as well as a host of out of game challenges too.
Players can get involved too by taking part in our double drops or double XP weekend,
which they can vote for with our Power To the Players scheme.
We're currently inviting some of our most passionate players to Jagex, sorting out all the technical stuff
so it runs as smoothly as possible and making sure the stream itself is full of great content for you to enjoy.
So this GameBlast aside from the XP waste of talking to camera and talking to people I'm going to be trying to get all my levels up
and I'm going to be giving a pound to charity for every level I go up.
I'm probably going to go for 6 hours at each of the god wars for the whole 24 hours
although it's double XP so you might see me in Dungeoneering and a bit of Divination.
The live stream is going to be great. It's going to be all about getting Jmods involved,
getting players involved, completing challenges and trying to persuade you to part with your money.
Players can donate in a couple of ways firstly we're reopening the Well of Goodwill
so you can use your in-game wealth and items to donate to the charity
or if you prefer, you can give directly by going to our Just Giving page which we've set up specifically for the event.
Full details of the live stream can be found on the RuneScape home page as well as our Facebook and Twitter pages.
You can also check out the Special Effect website where you can find out more about the charity involved.
If you have a question about this or any RuneScape video, ping us an email to runescapevideos@jagex.com and let us know.
