Hello!
I think we're live.
What's up, guys?
So can they enter little hellos in the group chat
there, Sue?
Can they do that?
Yeah.
Great.
So You'll see it on your page, I think.
But say hi, guys.
Tell us who's here, and where you're calling from.
Or where you're watching from, rather?
See how long I've been in this business?
I'm still programed to say calling.
Yeah.
Cool.
We'll get started in two minutes.
Dos minutos.
Two minutes.
Look at that.
Somebody's running behind you.
Morgan, what's your password?
So we're live on the air.
You're watching the sausage being made, everybody.
And there's also--
I think you have a dog or a cat?
It looks like there's some kind of cushion back
there for an animal?
I do.
Or is that where you put your children?
No, that's--
yeah, that's where I put my children.
I do have a dog, and he's upstairs in the bedroom so he
doesn't bark and disrupt us.
Sure.
Sure.
Got you?
So has anybody said hi yet?
Yeah.
Oh good.
Tell them I can't see that page right now.
So us who's on the webinar and where are
they calling in from?
Or watching from.
OK, so we have Kim Schneider, English League.
Wait, Kim's from--
oh, it doesn't say.
Her name is TheoOverallBeauty.
We have English League from Oakland, California.
Fabulous.
Yeah.
We've got Ken Vincent.
He's a management principal at IS and R Services.
We got Adrea Richmond from Memphis, Tennessee.
Let's see.
Lots more people coming on.
It just takes a little time to scroll.
So there are 1,000 or so people coming
to the webinar today.
That's what I've been told.
So that's great.
That means Instagram is the thing right now.
It's hot.
People need to know what it's all about.
Right?
Definitely, And Michael, just to let you know, the Google
Hangouts are usually 30 seconds delayed from what
we're seeing to what's going live.
OK, so we have Carol McWilliams, who's awesome.
She is from Newport Beach, California.
And oh my goodness, I got Elizabeth Sunby
right here in Wellesley.
She's on the call.
One of my friends.
Oh, Caitlin from Stand up Pouches.
Hey, Caitlin, I'm so glad you're on the call.
Stand Up Couches?
Pouches.
They make packages to put food in, like all the health food
products that you see and new packaging that's plastic with
ziplock, so when it sits on the shelf it stand up.
User friendly.
Really nice packages.
Susan Wright-Boucher.
She's a social media recruiter, which is awesome.
I got here.
Barbara's here from New Hampshire.
Bedford, New Hampshire.
They're all coming in quickly but takes a little while for
them to load.
I think we're ready to roll.
It's 1:01, Michael.
Great, let's do it.
All right.
So I'm going to do a little intro of Sue B. Zimmerman.
If you can't tell, it's the very good looking one with
hair on the video, and her name is on the screen.
So it's Sue B. Zimmerman.
You've got to remember the B. Sue B. Zimmerman.
So she's also known as the Instagram gal and is really a
master at Instagram for Business.
And I've got some notes here.
I'm going to read them to you, so I'm very, very clear about
who she is.
Because you got to know this very, very specifically.
She teaches entrepreneurs, business execs and marketing
professionals how powerful Instagram for Business can be.
She's the founder of the online Instagram course,
Insta-Results and Insta-Expert, the author of
the number one e-book, Instagram Basics for your
Business, a speaker and a business coach.
When I say Insta-Results, Insta.Expert, Instagram,
Insta-this, Insta-that, I feel like we're going to see one of
those videos from Justin Timberlake On Saturday Night
Live, doing the kind of riff they did on #hashtag.
Everything with the Instagram, everything with the Instagram,
just like the #hashtag.
So there's us.
We were in a hotel in New Jersey.
Not doing anything inappropriate, but I was
giving a speech for Entrepreneur magazine there
and Sue and some other folks came down to see it.
So I'm going to let you take it from here, and you guys
won't see me during this webinar, but Sue's going to
run the whole thing.
You're going to learn a heck of a lot about Instagram.
And then you'll have an opportunity to ask questions
at the end.
And she will also tell you about how you can continue to
work with her if you would like to.
But the call will be run by her, and I'm going to sit back
and relax and learn just like you guys.
So take it away Sue.
All right Michael.
Thanks so much.
Really excited to be here and to teach all your followers
how to use Instagram today.
OK, so let me just get into the first slide.
So everyone's saying what's Instagram, why Instagram, how
can I do another social media platform.
I barely have time to do Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest,
never mind Instagram.
Well, I say, mobile is certainly
here and is the future.
And everyone is carrying their cell phone within 24/7.
And if you're anything like me, you're taking it into the
background.
And your phone gives you the opportunity to share images,
whether they're photos or to take videos, because now on
Instagram, you can upload 15-second videos.
And in my humble opinion, visual curation is absolutely
where things are heading.
People are so inundated with long-winded emails.
And it's much easier and faster and I think more
entertaining to get on the message across visually.
And Instagram allows you to do that.
In addition, there is the whole magic of the #hashtags.
I always say this about Instagram.
The magic is in the #hashtag.
I'm going to go into this throughout the whole
presentation, but you need to understand that those #hashtag
that we can curate on Instagram are also lies on
Facebook and Twitter.
And for those of you that just aren't quite ready to take on
another social media platform for yourself, understand that
it is an amazing place to do market research in your field.
You can be searching relevant hashtags.
You can even be searching your name.
Like before Michael Port had me managing his account, Book
Yourself Solid, I had searched his name and there were
several posts of his book already on Instagram that
people were sharing and promoting and broadcasting.
So it's really important to know what your relevant
#hashtag are so that you can keep up with them and search
them on Instagram.
Now I'm going to tell you all something to do that's pretty
untraditional for a webinar.
Most people say shut off all distractions, grab your water,
grab your pen, grab your paper.
I'm going to say it's OK to grab your phone and follow
along throughout this presentation especially if you
have Instagram on your phone, because you might be able to
do some things as I go along.
Separately, for those of you that are really good at
multitasking, I'm OK with that.
And if you want to mention @MichaelPort and
@SueBZimmerman on Twitter or take screenshots and Instagram
them, we would love to see that throughout the
presentation as well.
So let's just keep going, and if this information here alone
doesn't convince you to get on Instagram, I know that these
stats will.
When I first started teaching Instagram over six months ago,
there were 150 million active users.
And now there are 200 million active users.
I recently heard that there's a new user every second.
So these statistics are real, and they're pretty poignant.
And you definitely want to get on there and be a thought
leader or a leader in your industry, so that you can
claim your stake and own your space, whether it's the name
of your business or your personal name.
So a lot of people say isn't Instagram just for
product-based businesses.
Well, guess what?
I have both a product-based business and a
service-based business.
On the bottom is my timeline image from my
Facebook page SueBDo.
And it's a store I have on Cape Code where I sell
jewelry, clothing and accessories.
And I've learned how to use Instagram there first, and
then I carried over to my service industry Sue B.
Zimmerman Enterprise, which I'm going to tell you the
story about right now.
So this is my Insta-Awesome story.
OK, so over a year ago, my adorable twin teenage
daughters were on Instagram.
And, by the way, if you have teenagers, always listen and
watch and know what they're doing, because they are most
likely going to start the next trend.
Right?
SnapChat, everything.
So Lila and Kira were on Instagram, and I asked them
what it was.
And they're like, mom, we are so not not telling you what it
is, because then you'll start using it.
So of course, I figured out how to use it.
I started using it for my store SueBDo, and I saw an
increase in a year of 40%.
Pretty cool, right?
So here I am with a picture with one of my customers, of
course, taking an Instagram picture because
that's what I do.
And this is a drawing, a rendering, of what my store
looks like.
So it's a really charming little store, merchandising a
lot on the outside, but you've got to know how to
bring people in.
So I have seven girls that work for me--
teenagers and college students.
And guess what, they have about 500 to 1,000 friends on
Instagram, right?
So one of their job descriptions when they worked
for me was to check in on Foursquare, post to Facebook
twice a day, two Tweets and two Instagrams.
And because of their followers and mine, my sales
increased so much.
Because whenever they posted pictures of my products, their
friends wanted to come in and buy them.
So I absolutely compensated them accordingly when the
orders came in, the sales came in from them, but it was our
collective efforts of making the sales just soar.
So if you have a team of people, you absolutely want to
come up with a strategy that's going to work
well for your business.
So after my store closed in the summer--
I teach social media all year, and I had been speaking all
around about Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest,
but I realized when I was talking at conferences, all
the people that I were meeting in the room, professionals, no
one knew how to use Instagram, and I was always showing them.
So I realized that there was an opportunity
to teach the world.
how to use Instagram.
I was teaching on college campuses, I was teaching on
stage, I was going to conferences as an attendee.
And the reoccurring theme was no one really knew how to use
this Instagram.
So I decided six months ago to claim this space, become the
Instagram gal, and teach the world how to use
this amazing platform.
And I'm so excited to teach all of you this today.
So what we're going to learn is we're going to learn all
about #hashtags and how to use them effectively to gain
clients and more followers.
I'm going to teach you how to reach a target of hyperfocused
target market niche and convert them to paying
clients, and how to share your visual content across multiple
platforms to extend your reach.
But first I want to talk to you about one of my most
amazing clients.
Her name is Jill Boudreau and this is a story
that happened recently.
So Jill lives in my hometown, Wellesley, Massachusetts.
And we both have been living here for over 20 years.
And we did not know each other.
And she is a real estate agent, and she was planning a
big open house.
And she flew Barbara Cochran in from New York.
And she catered this huge event, and she realized that
she had to share this as much as she could.
Say she got on Instagram, not quite knowing how to use it,
but enough to know who to follow and what to look for.
So she was following a lot of the #hashtags that I use for
my business--
Wellesley, Cape Cod, SueBDo, Instagram gal, as
I've circled here.
And she found me and booked a time trade appointment.
We sat down at a local shop, and 12 hours later she wrote
me a check for $15,000 to be her business coach.
Then she hired me to do a mastermind for her and her
real estate team at my Cape house.
And then she ended up hiring me and my team to handle all
her social media for her business.
She has turned into a over $30,000 client,
starting October 1.
And I never would met her if it wasn't for Instagram.
So it is true you can attract your ideal red Velvet rope
policy client.
You just have to know how.
So one of my favorite things about Instagram, and for those
of you who have your phone's open on
Instagram, is the chat button.
It's the second one from the right, the one with the heart.
This is the button you want to pay attention to, because this
is where you can see the engagement on your post .
There's a News tab at the top, and there's a Following tab.
So when you click on the News tab, you can see people who
start following you, people who start
following you from Facebook--
because as you know, Facebook bought Instagram over a year
ago for $1 billion dollars.
So they are married.
And you can see all the comments people are
posting on your post.
So what this means is that you can go in there and decide who
you want to click in to start following, and if you want to
comment back to people who are commenting on your post.
So I go in and do this at least three or four times a
day, because honestly of all social media platforms, in my
opinion this is where it is the least amount of noise.
It's you and your Instagram feed.
There's no ads.
And you can go in there and really engage when
it's right for you.
So you can use Instagram to grow your business, and I'm
going to tell you strategies that will get you the greatest
results in the shortest period of time.
I'm going to bust through some myths that just are not true.
I'm going to talk to you about some very common business
mistakes that you are all going to promise not to make
if you're on this call and listening.
And I'm going to teach you how to get the most
reach from each post.
So how do you become a leader in your industry?
You claim it.
You show it.
You own it.
And you work it.
Right?
So this is a picture on Instagram from one of my
favorite third-party apps called Diptic.
And it is in my course, but you can download it for free,
if you want a free app, where you can show a scrapbook-like
image of something you want to post.
So what this does is tell a story.
I'm the Instagram gal.
I've completed this course.
Here's my Insta-Results scores.
And I also sell these Insta-Amazing
signs, that are handmade.
So I'm claiming to be the Instagram gal throughout a lot
of the posts I make on Instagram.
And when you say it and when you believe it and when you
show it with such passion, other people
will believe it too.
So let me take you through eight different posting
strategies.
These are eight of my favorite, but there's so many
more that I teach as well.
But these are a good eight to start with.
So everyone has happy clients or happy customers, right?
Or you wouldn't be in business.
So I say take out your phone and take pictures of you with
your happy customers or clients.
This is a picture of recently at the Massachusetts Women's
Conference.
I had all these teenage girls in my booth.
They were all buying signs.
I absolutely had to take a picture and
wanted to share that.
And guess what?
When I shared it, some people that were there-- because I
geotagged it, which I'll talk about soon--
came into my booth and bought more signs.
So you can absolutely drive traffic to your business by
showing products that you sell happy customers that are
showcasing them.
And if you can't get in the picture with your customer,
have your customer just send you a picture, or better yet,
get a testimonial screen shot of it, and you can grab their
picture off of Facebook and create a really nice image
about something that they're saying about you that will
help you with your business.
Because testimonials really speak a thousand words of
endorsements.
A second strategy is to show behind scenes.
OK, so you saw Michael with his big microphone and his
awesome new equipment.
People love to see that stuff, like really like what is going
on behind the scenes?
How is Starbucks making that coffee drink?
They do a great job at showing behind the scene pictures on
Instagram, and they're a really
great account to follow.
But here you'll see a picture of me and my really good
friend, Dana Lynch.
We were doing a mastermind and shooting a video.
And this is just behind the scenes--
LeeAnne caught a picture of us, talking to the video guy
and we snapped it.
But if you're a jewelry designer, or if you are a
chef, or if you are in the health industry, show how to
make the smoothies, show how to make the cake, show how to
make the jewelry.
People love to see the process of the outcome.
A third posting strategy is to show people who inspire or
people who are thought leaders.
So I mean, can you guys imagine how happy I am to be
working with Michael Port and to have him here as an ally in
endorsing everything I'm doing?
Well, here we were at that conference he was mentioning
with Dawn Doherty, who's an elite Book Yourself Solid
trainer and, again, Dana Lynch.
And we were just hanging out in the lobby, chatting, having
a good time and of course, I'm like, let's take an Instagram!
Don't got anywhere!
So this is a really fun picture, great memory.
And I'm just so happy to have it, And when you get these
fabulous pictures, you can write an awesome blog post
with them too.
So definitely get pictures of thought leaders, and if you
don't have a picture of a thought leader, I'm sure you
have the book that they wrote.
And you can showcase that.
There's always a little work around to
these creative ideas.
A fourth strategy is to show events that you either speak
at or attend.
People really like to see you investing in your career and
knowing that you're constantly learning to get better at what
you're doing.
Well, I am speaking in March at Social
Media Marketing World.
I'm so excited, of course.
I'm speaking about Instagram, leading a brand panel.
And I wanted to share that with my followers, so that
hopefully a lot of people who know me online
will meet me offline.
I absolutely love when that happens.
So showcasing events is a really great thing to do.
And it's great for the event as well.
Even if you're not in the picture, for you to broadcast
and sharing and promote an event.
OK, so how awesome is this picture of Michael?
I think it's my favorite one I've seen of him.
Like getting some air with these cool sneakers, cool
jeans, jacket, the whole bit.
Show your personality.
I want to know what you're passionate about, beyond what
you do for work.
So people really feel more connected to you when they see
what you love.
And people like to do business with people they
know, like and trust.
And when you open up and show a little bit and let down your
guard, that will really shine through, especially on
Instagram--
really easy to do.
And the sixth strategy is something that really works
well if you have a product.
Actually, you can use this for services as well.
You can run a promotion.
So if you're trying to get more followers, or if you have
an event that you're trying to get people to sign up for, you
can give away a ticket.
You can give away a product I do what's called "Double Tap
Tuesday" with my SueB.Jewels business.
And this is all jewelry with a nautical looking and feel.
And every Tuesday for a while, we were doing a "Double Tap
Tuesday" and giving away earrings.
We would announce the winner at 10:00 at night, and we
would share this to Facebook, and we would do
randomnumber.org, and we'd choose a random winner.
And obviously there were rules of engagement.
You want to get them to follow you on Instagram, repost it
with the Repost app, and ask them to tag you.
So you can do your call to actions of what you want to
get out of the contest, but it's a really great way to get
engagement and more followers.
And if you do it consistently every week and come up with a
catchy name, people will go to your Instagram handle to look
for that actual contest.
The seventh strategy is to show books you love.
And I did mention that earlier.
I'm giving a little plug here for my new "Get Your
Hash Tag On" book.
And Michael wrote the quote on the cover, which I was really
happy about.
He just wrote "Sue B. is the number one expert
on Instagram success.
If you want Insta-Results, buy this now." So this is a
downloadable PDF on Instagram's Hottest Hashtags
for Business.
It's $19.99, and you can buy at any time.
And I'm so proud of this.
It's my first download that has to do with Instagram.
So I'm sure everyone is reading a book right now that
they can easily take a picture of.
I recently did one of Gary Vaynerchuk's new book Jab Jab
Jab Right Hook, and they did it as a video.
His book came in the mail, I created a 15-second video.
And I shared that and guess what?
Gary saw it.
And what's really cool is that I'm going to be doing a Google
Hangout with him in January, because he's endorsing
Instagram on every interview that he has with this book.
So when you start promoting other people, they want to
work with you, or be a part of your business.
So it's really good to @mention others who you want
to get the attention of.
And on Instagram, when you @mention someone, it's just
like on Twitter.
They get a notification that they were
mentioned in the post.
OK, so the eighth and final strategy is to show quotes.
Now Michael has the most amazing quotes, as I'm sure
all of you have read, in Book Yourself Solid.
And we have been curating some of these on his new Instagram
account, which is Book Yourself Solid.
And when I tell people and I work with my clients about
creating and posting quotes, I think it's really important to
do your own branded look and feel for you quotes.
or the quotes that resonate for you in your business.
And you shouldn't really just be posting quotes for the sake
of posting quotes, because they get a lot of likes and
engagement.
Make sure they resonate for your business and your brand.
So I have a hashtag, SBZquotes, where you can
actually look and see all the quotes in one place that I've
curated on Instagram.
So now let's bust through some of these myths.
Because I'm sure some of you on the call are thinking, oh
my god, my kids are on Instagram all day and it's
just for teenagers, right?
That's so not true.
I just showed you some serious doubts stats how there's now
200 million active users and climbing.
And it is now, this is the time, right now, to take
action, 2014, to get on Instagram.
It is the easiest place to engage, attract followers and
quite frankly, I think it's the most fun.
And I am actively on all platforms.
But this is where it's at.
And a lot of people say, I don't have the time.
Social media takes too much time.
How could I work with into my day?
And you know what I say to that?
I spend 30 minutes a week, creating my post.
Seriously.
I spend more time looking and engaging in other people's
posts, but in terms of curing my content, I do it for 30
minutes a week, because I really know how to do the
posting, the videos and the hashtag strategy.
We already talked about the users.
I convinced you and showed you that there are so many users.
And people often say that there's just
not going to be their--
client's not going to be there.
You've got to go look and find them and
follow them and engage.
And people often say it's just so hard to get new followers
on any platform.
And let me tell you something, all my new clients that start
using Instagram, the first email I get from them or the
first message is I cannot believe how many followers I
got in a day or in two days.
This is awesome.
The engagement is huge.
That is a reoccurring theme that I hear over and over
again from people that start to use Instagram.
OK, let's go over to these.
The most common business mistakes.
I know that I can't see you all, but listen carefully and
take the oath.
You will not make any of these six mistakes.
OK?
I can feel your energy.
You will not.
All right.
Incomplete bios, blurry photos, irrelevant photos, no
hashtag strategy, your privacy setting is on, or you have the
wrong username.
So let me show you a few of these things.
OK?
Incomplete bio is the most common thing I see over and
over and over again, especially
for business owners.
They have a picture, but it's a bad picture.
They have a name, but it's not quite the right
name for their business.
And they haven't written a bio.
You get 150 characters to write an Insta-Awesome bio.
You want to select those key words carefully.
And you want to let people know what you do and what
you're passionate about.
Because guess what?
When I see somebody following me on Instagram, and I click
in to see if I want to follow them back, if there's no bio,
I don't care who they are, I'm not calling back.
I don't have the time to flip through their photos to figure
out who they are and what they do.
You want to make it easy for followers to
want to follow you.
So on Instagram, sometimes you see a hashtag in front of
words that are written out in the bio.
And the reason that they're there is because those are key
words for the profile.
They're not hyperlink, so you can can't click on them and go
anywhere, but in my bio for Sue B. Zimmerman, one of the
hashtags I used in Instagram Gal.
Because I want people to know that if they're going to write
a post about me, that is the hashtag I want
written in the post.
Another thing that you are not going to do ever--
OK, there's one exception.
I'm giving you one exception to the blurry photo rule.
If you get a picture with someone famous like Michael
Port and it's kind of out of focus or it's not that great,
or you don't look good but he does--
I don't care what.
But if it's your one and only photo, you can use it.
Guess what you have five different filters that you can
choose to make it look better, but if it still doesn't look
perfect, you can still use it.
If that person is going to be social proof of something that
you're doing awesome, go for it.
If not, delete it and start again.
This is a biggie, take note, if you are in business, I
don't want to see pictures of you going up to your elevator
in your hotel room.
I also don't want to see what you're eating all day, long
unless of course it's a beautiful green smoothie and
you're telling me the ingredients.
Or a fabulous presentation artistic presentation of food
that is just to die for.
Food is the most common thing that you see on Instagram, and
it's probably because we eat three to five times a day.
But you don't need to be sharing your food with people,
unless you are in the health and fitness and food industry
and you are teaching how to be healthier based on the foods
that you're eating or you want to share the recipes.
OK?
And finally, the one that is the reoccurring theme
throughout my presentation is that
there's no hashtag strategy.
You can use up to 30 hashtags per post.
Now when you start your Instagram image, on the first
description, some people say not to use any hashtags and
some people say to just use a couple.
And the reason being is that you can only use 30.
So once you've uploaded your picture, you can continue the
conversation in trying to attract your ideal client by
using hashtags.
For example, so if I post a picture, and I'm talking about
Instagram, my hashtag book, and I'm telling people to buy
it or to read it or to learn something about it.
Right after that first post, I could write a comment and I
could write Instagram, Instagram tips,
Insta-Awesome, hashtags.
All these words are key words that are in the book.
And you can use up to 30.
You can let those hashtags run their course under that post
and keep them there or you can delete it and add more,
because you only have 30 per post.
So some people strategically add hashtags under their
pictures, delete them and then add others to see who they're
attracting.
And this is something I teach in the course.
But I just want you all to understand that you have 30
hashtags per post, and that you can keep the engagement
and conversation going on any photo that you've uploaded
recently or in the past.
So this is a really great part of this whole presentation for
all of you, because I'm assuming that most of you have
a business, want a business, or are in business, and you
want to learn how to get the most reach from a post, so
that you're spending less time on other
social media platforms.
Right?
So I'm going to teach you how to
share to multiple platforms.
I'm also going to show you how to geo tag your post and why
you want to do that.
And I'm going to tell you what a word I made up is--
CLEEP.
But you have to wait till you see that.
OK?
But it's a really good one, so just stand by.
So Instagram has a huge reach.
You can share your Instagram post to Twitter, Facebook,
Flickr, Foursquare, and you can even email an Instagram
picture to somebody.
So say your mother's not on Instagram, but you saw this
beautiful sweater that you might want to buy her, but
you're not sure.
You can just email it to her if she's not on Instagram.
Now for the sake of time, I'm going to talk specifically
about Facebook and Twitter.
When you share your Instagram to Facebook, you can share to
your personal page or you can share it to
your business page.
And if you're like me, you might have more than one
business page.
So the good news is you can choose which page
you share it to.
How awesome is that, right?
So you just want to make sure you have them all linked, so
that you can choose where to share them.
You can also share to Twitter.
Now, when you share a post from Instagram, you do not
have to share it as soon as you post it.
You can wait to share it later, which I have learned to
do as a really good strategy for me, because when I look at
Statigram--
and Statigram is an online website that you can link your
Instagram account to to look at your statistics, so you can
see what time of day you are having the best engagement,
what filters people like the most, and when is it the best
time to share the post over to Facebook?
And we have determined from looking at my data that
waiting six hours for my post from Instagram is the best
time to then share it over to Facebook to continue the
conversation.
So let me show you what I mean by that.
So this picture started in Instagram.
It's a picture of me in the back of my store.
And I then shared it over to Facebook.
So you can see in the blue, under my name, where it says
View on Instagram, if you were to click into that and you are
on Facebook, that would take you right to
my Instagram account.
So what that means is if some of your followers on Facebook
are not yet following on Instagram, they will when they
see this post from Facebook.
So it works both ways.
Followers on Facebook see this post.
They see it View on Instagram.
They might want to check it out over on Instagram, click
in and then start following you.
Now this one was shared from Instagram to Facebook.
And I use keywords at the time Just Cape Cod, which is the
location of my store and the name of my store.
Now you can see that 30 people liked this post, and 12 people
commented on this post.
So someone said, can't wait to see you, I want to get a
bracelet, I'm dying to get there.
So my point here is that the conversation
continued on Facebook.
It started on Instagram, continued on Facebook.
And I have different followers on every single platform.
So you don't know whose eyes saw it where.
But you want to share it.
And when you share it to Facebook or to Twitter, you
get more eyeballs on your post.
Now obviously when you share it over to Twitter, you need
to make sure that it does not have too many hashtags.
It has the right @mention and that it's a
really relevant Tweet.
And I don't recommend automatically sharing over to
Twitter for the sake of posting it there,
just to post it.
You need to make sure it's a rich Tweet.
So good news for all of you that love Pinterest and
constantly go down the Pinterest hole, and just get
sucked into staying there.
When you go to Statigram--
again, here it is on the left--
you can view all of your Instagram posts.
Now as long as you have the Pin It button in your browser,
at the arrow is pointing right here.
It's in my browser.
If I click on that P, all these images will pop up with
the word "pin it" on it.
So I can pin any of these images to the right board.
So, for example, the Instagram Gal.
I have a board on Instagram called the Integrand Gal.
I have slide shares that we create every Sunday called
Sunday Slide Shares, so I pin that one there.
Here's the webinar announcement.
I don't pin personal things like decorating cookies and
face-painting or pictures of me with my clients or
anything, but I share things that are relevant that I want
to post over to my board.
So this makes it really easy to be super efficient on
Pinterest and not spending too much time there.
So I want you all to understand geo tags, and why
it's so important to turn your photo map on.
So on the left hand side, where the green arrow is
pointing, you want to toggle that on.
Now there's an exception to this rule.
If you're on vacation or if you are taking pictures with
your kids, and you don't want people to know where you are,
you can turn that off.
But if you are in business and using Instagram for your
business, most of your photos should be posted with the geo
tag on, especially if you have a brick and mortar.
So this is a picture of the adorable Alanis Morissette.
And, yes, I was this close to her.
And she is just as sweet online, as she is offline.
And I was at a conference--
Emerging Women-- at the St. Julien Hotel in Colorado.
So I put the geo tag on, and that's how people
knew where I was.
And people reference where you are, so if you;re at a
conference or an event, and they see that post and that
geo tag on, guess what?
If you're at a huge conference, somebody could be
in the room that's following you on Instagram and didn't
even know you were there.
And then they could find you because of the geo tag that
you put on.
True story, not kidding.
So my husband and I were going out to dinner in the city at a
steakhouse called Grill 23.
I'd never been there.
And he asked me for directions, so
guess what I did?
I opened up Instagram, I searched in the compass, the
second one to the left, the name of the restaurant, and
all kinds of pictures came up with that hashtag.
I clicked on one of the pictures.
I saw the geo tag.
I clicked right in.
It took me right over to My Maps.
And voila, I got to the restaurant from
an Instagram post.
Pretty cool, right?
So the geo tags are really important, so that you can
share with your followers where you are posting what
you're posting.
It's a really good added value to your post.
OK.
So here it is.
You guys can take a screen shot if you want.
CLEEP.
These are some of my favorite hashtag rules.
When you upload your integrand pictures, you want to mention
Categories, Locations, Emotions.
Who can guess--
type in the chat box-- who can guess the number one emotion
that is on Instagram?
We'll look at that after.
And Events.
As I mentioned, you want to hashtag the name of the event,
so that you're part of the conversation.
Just like in Twitter, when you go to an event and you follow
that hashtag, you can follow that event on Instagram.
But it's visually following what everyone's posting.
Right?
So it's really cool to just stay and engage and be a part
of that event.
And you can see other people that are at that event, and
since you have something in common, you might want to
start following them, because you have that common interest.
And then the P stands for Products.
And I know that some people don't have products.
They have services.
But guess what?
You can hashtag your services also.
So use CLEEP to get more peeps.
So this is where we talk about how you can learn more.
I have this amazing Insta-Results online course.
There are six modules.
I'm going to go through very quickly because I really want
to save time for questions.
And I want to tell you what is in each module.
The course is a little under three hours, and you get to go
through it on your own pace.
Each video and each module is three to five minutes long.
So if you need to make dinner or pick up your kids or walk
your dog, you can do that, come back and keep learning.
So in the first module, it's all about how to join
Instagram, the initial set up, the complete tour.
There are 12 videos here.
I go through how to delete a comment, which is something
you absolutely want to know, how to use the menu and all
the security features.
Those are three of the highlights of Module 1.
Module 2 is why your business will explode on Instagram,
effective strategies from very well-known Instagram
influencers.
There are three amazing case studies.
One is on the health industry.
One is with real estate agents.
And one is with social media.
Module number 3 is how to create rocking post on
Instagram, optimizing your photo
for an optimal following.
We talk about those third-party apps, Diptic and
my favorite PicPlayPost, which is where you
can upload a video--
more than one video in one post-- and sync it with
background music.
That is one of my absolute favorite, favorite apps.
Module 4 has six videos in it.
And one of them that's really compelling is how to build
your email list.
We all want to have a bigger email list, right?
And Module 5--
it has six videos in it.
And we talk a lot about strategic commenting and
themed posts and how to use the Repost application.
So, real quick, the Repost
application is really important.
It's a free download.
It's like retweeting.
It's a complement.
So if you see something on someone else's Instagram
account, you want to repost it and not take a
screen shot of it.
And that's a complement to them.
They will get mentioned.
They will get a notification.
They will then become a part of your following.
And it is a complement, right?
Because often when people retweet your tweets on
Twitter, you start following them.
You feel like there's this law of reciprocity.
And then Module 6-- this is all about Statigram, in depth.
The whole module is about understanding Statigram and
all the statistics.
So because I just want you to see some of the clients that
I've been working with who have gotten amazing results.
Leah is a life coach, and she had no idea
what Instagram was.
She is now rocking it on Instagram.
She constantly messages me, and tells me that she has
gotten new clients.
She was really concerned about being a coach and how to
visually share and curate content.
And we came up with some really great
strategies for her.
Dean, who is an amazing photographer, just started
getting on Instagram when I met him.
I convinced him to be on Instagram, because he travels
and brings his travel experiences back into the
classroom for kids.
And he is sharing all of his content through his
photographs with his kids, and his following has
increased so much.
And he is really good at sharing his Instagram photos
over to Facebook to get more engagement there.
And then my dear friend, Tory Johnson, who has really had a
lot to do with me owning this new space and really becoming
an expert in my field.
I met her at Spark and Hustle here in
Boston three years ago.
And I've been onstage at her events.
And she has just been a huge cheerleader for my success.
And I helped her with her whole hashtag strategy,
especially when she launched her book, The Shift.
So in addition to all of that, I like to over-deliver.
You will get three amazing bonuses from people who I
highly admire and respect.
One is Mari Smith.
She has offered to give 10 Facebook
marketing Do's and don'ts.
It's a 16-page download PDF.
And she said the value is $49.
And then my good friend James Wedmore who taught me
everything I know about video gave us the five essential
videos that every business needs,
which he said is priceless.
And of course, yours truly contributed.
And he gave us his sales funnel
outline, which is priceless.
It's developing a whole automated
marketing and sales funnel.
It is the outline template that you absolutely want to
get your hands on.
And then for our course, just to let you know, we give you
all the free updates and there is an amazing
private Facebook group.
Huge energy, everyone's a champion for
each other's success.
We all follow each other.
We all learn from each other.
And I'm so proud to have this community that
I have built online.
I am just so honored that I can share my talents with the
world and help other people be more successful.
So this course is $197.
It includes absolutely everything we talked about.
And I just want to let you know that the first 50 people
that decide to buy this, I will personally help create
the best Instagram bio to attract your ideal client.
And this is something that I charge $300 for, and it's so
important to have a rocking bio.
You will see here I have my own personal account on the
right, Sue B. Zimmerman.
Come follow me there.
And then I have what's called a featured account, the
Instagram Expert, which I started about three weeks ago.
And that account is all about teaching Instagram tips and
tools only.
My personal account is all about
everything I do every day.
It's like my strategies for posting on Instagram.
But there's a lot of personal noise there.
So if you just want to get my tips, you want
to come follow there.
So if anyone wants to get that, it's the first 50 people
here on the call.
And then this is going to be free to everybody, because I
really value your time.
I'm so honored that you're on this call with me and Michael.
And everyone that is here, I'm going to send you a PDF.
You'll get it in the Replay email of the top 100 business
hashtags that you should be aware of and start using for
your business right away.
And of course, there's a 30-day money-back guarantee,
because I stand by everything I do.
And so far to date, no one has returned it.
So I'm pretty excited about that.
And I want to make sure that all of you come on over and
follow Michael's new account that we're managing called
Book Yourself Solid.
I think he has 222 followers now.
His conversion rate is huge.
I'm really excited-- you know, when I say conversion rate.
It's the amount of posts to the amount of followers.
And obviously he has an amazing following, so it
doesn't surprise me that his has taken off so quickly.
And we're having a lot of fun doing that.
So I would love questions.
I'm here to serve you all and to help you become
InstaRockStars on Instagram.
And I really look forward to seeing you guys on Instagram.
So let me start answering some of these questions.
[LAUGHING]
OK, SO we have Michelle Newborg answered the most
popular emotion on Instagram is love.
We're going to send you something special for getting
that right.
I want to say something real quick, just
so everybody knows.
The course that Sue was talking about, I'm not an
affiliate for it.
I don't make any money off of.
I don't bring Sue to you because of that.
I bring Sue to you because I think that Instagram really
does have a lot of value, going forward.
As you guys know, I wrote an illustrated edition of Book
Yourself Solid, because the visual component is really
what's most attractive to people right now.
We're moving in that direction, as you may have
heard, as you may have seen.
And I think that Instagram fills that space.
And that's why I think it's great.
And I can do without most social media.
I mean, I'd be perfectly happy, if Phil went away
tomorrow, I think we'd still do just fine.
But so I take very seriously which platforms I
spend my time on.
And I've made this commitment to Instagram.
So just so you know that, for whatever it's worth.
Back to you, Sue.
So everyone's asking if there's going to be a replay.
Absolutely.
We will do that.
Someone's asking, let's see, how do I add people to follow.
You just simply press the Follow button.
You can follow and unfollow people very quickly.
When you search and find someone on Instagram--
and just know this too.
Not everybody's going to get their name.
If you're late to the game, your personal name most likely
will be taken.
And you know how Michael introduced me with the B?
Well, the reason I have the B-- one is because of my store
SueBDo, but two, my real name is Susan Zimmerman, and I
wasn't able to get that URL.
And Sue Zimmerman was taken.
So it's Sue B Zimmerman.
But the great news is that I have it consistently on every
single platform.
So you want to be consistent, and if you can get your
Twitter handle as your Instagram
handle, that is fabulous.
And if you can't, you need to really think about what should
your username be?
Do you want it to be personally or do you want to
be a featured account.
Again have featured account is one where it is you in an
expert space.
The restaurant expert, the social media expert, and you
can always put in your bucket in your bio what
your real name is.
Because on Michael's.
his account's called Book Yourself Solid, because
someone had Michael Port.
We came up with this great strategy to
having it be his book.
But in his bio, his name is there, and
everyone knows it's him.
So you absolutely want to be strategic about how you get
your username on Instagram.
So someone asking to join the webinar.
Thanks Sue, you mentioned that you select which Facebook page
Instagram posts to.
How do you set that up?
That is in detail in my first module of the course.
I can't go into it right now, so it's going to take
too much away .
If you have a problem with it ad I want to private message
me, I'm happy to help you do that later.
So someone's asking, I think you have a course, Managing
Multiple Accounts, but I don't know how to sign up for it.
Yes.
I am not only doing this amazing webinar with Michael
today, but I'm launching a course called Insta-Expert,
which is all about management tools and how to manage
multiple accounts.
So if you are a social media expert, or if you are a
virtual assistant and you really want to learn how to
manage multiple accounts, that whole webinar is geared
towards that.
I did not want to pack that into this.
It's just way too much information.
But there are amazing management
tools that we share.
So what's my handle on is Insta?
Oh, Fabio, thank you, you'll love this.
As I shared it's @SueBZimmerman or The
Instagram Expert.
And when you're using Instagram, can you only upload
from an iPhone or can you be uploaded from your computer?
OK.
So, yes.
You can now upload--
there are management tools where you can upload your
Instagrams from your desktop and your laptop.
I have management tools to help you do that.
And a lot of people--
just to let you know when you're using your phone, you
can access your photo library.
You do not have to take your pictures right in the
Instagram app.
The same is true for your videos.
So all of you on the call, I really want you to start
experimenting with videos.
You will see your engagement and your followers soar when
you start implementing videos.
And I know that so many people are so shy of doing YouTube,
YouTube videos, oh my gosh, the lights, that script.
How do I memorize it?
How do I be authentic?
OK.
For 15 seconds, you can totally rock it out with an
Instagram video.
And it's stop and start.
So if you don't like what's happening, you just delete it
back and start again.
Really easy.
Great to add to your content.
Everyone's always looking for more content to share.
As Michael said, visual is absolutely so vitally
important for our branding, and I think for the future.
And you can so easily share things visually from a photo
or from a movie that you have on your iPhone.
And you can edit the clip right in the Instagram app.
So you can edit it right there.
You do not need any fancy editing tool.
It's done right on your handheld.
OK, so still not really sure how to find
people and more followers.
So this is a recurring question.
All right, everybody, get your phones out.
Second button from the left is called the
Search compass button.
You want to click on that.
And when you do, you will have the choice of either searching
a hashtag or searching a user.
So you want to click on User to search a user, click on
hashtag to search a hashtag.
I hope that clears things up.
Now remember your username, if you're searching for a person
like Michael Port, you're not going to find him.
Because he has Book Yourself Solid.
So don't assume that they're going to pop up.
Something that I teach my clients to do to check is if
all of you should absolutely have on your home page on your
website now a social media button for Instagram.
That will take your followers right to
your Instagram account.
So you can code that on your website.
So if you're not finding, for example, Starbucks or Target
or something-- obviously they have their names-- but if
they're not finding a brand that you want to find on
Instagram, go to their website.
I can assure you that that Instagram button will be on
their website if they are on Instagram.
Michael, do you have any questions?
Not really.
I was just putting on my sweater which is why I turned
off my video.
I think I'm back now.
I think that like anything else, it takes a while to get
up to speed on something new.
And I think that's cool.
And I think that it's a good idea just to start
playing with it.
You don't have to make a full 150% commitment to going out
as the biggest Instagram user there is.
Rather, what you can do is you can start
setting up your account.
You can learn how to do this.
And then step by step, over time, you'll find a, is it
interesting to you?
And b, is it working?
Because I think both of those things need to be in place.
There's lots of things that I've done over the years that
have worked well, but I didn't find interesting,
so I stopped doing.
So yes, so I think you just play with it to start out and
see how it goes.
And that's it.
I don't have too many questions, because you've been
teaching this to me.
Yeah.
And you're managing my account, so I don't have too
many questions.
I'm kind of lucky in that way in that I don't have to learn
quite as much right off the bat.
Because you're doing it for me.
Well, let me just expand for a minute on what you just said
about trying things out.
That's so important.
You know, I think the people on the call are on the call
for a reason.
They're curious.
They want to learn it.
They want to have an easier way to save
time, to create content.
And to Michael's point, you're not going to know what works
until you try it.
What I do know from my postings, and I've posted over
3,000 images or videos.
So I have some data to share with you.
I get the most engagement on beautiful pictures of nature.
OK?
So you might say Sue, what does have to
do with your brand?
Well, guess what?
I love the beach.
I love sunsets, just like anyone else.
And that's part of what makes me tick and what I'm
passionate about.
And showing that I am taking time in my day to share
something beautiful with my followers that's meaningful to
me might have more meaning than me pitching my book, Get
Your Hashtag On.
And so those pictures of nature--
of any pictures on Instagram clearly get the most traction.
And then I shared with you the whole quote thing.
I think everyone can share quotes.
Quotes are just huge on Pinterest, on Facebook,
everywhere.
People love to be inspired and to be lifted up and to have a
little sound bite of a message every day that's just going to
make them feel better.
Hey Sue, Sue, Can I interrupt one sec, just because I've
really always wanted to do this.
I've always wanted to wear a little tiara on my head.
And so I was just going to try to take this and put it--
On Google+, you can do that, Michael.
Yeah, but I don't know.
It doesn't seem to be--
It's in the toolbox, I think.
I'm trying but it doesn't seem to be going on my head.
So I'll work on this, while you continue on.
But I just thought it might be fun.
And then we could take a snapshot of it,
and post it on Instagram.
Oh, that would be super duper fun.
He's asking to put a tiara on?
I'm trying to put a tiara on.
You keep finding it, while, yeah, I would love to take an
Instagram of that, for shizzle.
For shizzle.
So just, you know--
Ah, got it!
You got it?
[SQUEALS]
OK, start talking.
There we go.
So I feel like a new princess, being new to Instagram, but my
fairy godmother, Sue B. Zimmerman, has made it really
comfortable, fun and easy for me.
And now I feel like I'll be an instant champion.
There we go.
Now I--
You got it.
We're Instagramming it right now.
I will remove it right now.
Everybody on the call's going to see that in two seconds.
So Michael, I really wanted a little bit more time here,
because I think as busy entrepreneurs, as people who
are more than anything are trying to get more clients and
make more money, right?
At the end of the day, absolutely I'm so with you,
Michael, with the whole idea of are you doing and do you
love what you're doing?
Or are you doing it just to make money, because if the
passion piece is missing, it's not about the money.
And for me, what I've discovered at this stage of my
life, I've been very fortunate.
I've had 17 successful businesses.
I have finally landed in a place where I feel like I'm so
meant to be in that, I now can teach the world something I'm
so passionate about and make a difference in so
many people's lives.
And that to me it's worth so much more money than what I
make selling products at my store.
I absolutely love my customers.
And I love being on the Cape.
But the difference that I'm making in other people's
businesses and helping them, is the reinforcement of I wake
up every day and I just can't wait to get at this.
I just can't wait to do more to teach more.
And so I think when you-- again, back to
that posting strategy.
It's going to come from a place of passion.
It's going to come from a place of "I don't care what
anyone else thinks about me.
I am doing this because this is who I am and this is what I
love." And if that feels right, it will come across to
all your followers, and what I realized is from my customers
and people that meet me offline, if
Oh my god, you're like the real person that I see on
Instagram, like all those pictures of you, that high
energy you show, this is who you are when
I get to meet you.
And I love hearing that.
To me, that's success.
That's, what I'm doing rocking it on Instagram,.
And I'm teaching wherever I go, what I do.
Cool.
So I think we got to wrap up.
It's looks like the top of the house.
Thanks so much for coming in and talking to everybody.
I hope it was helpful.
For those of you who are running Insta-Exports.
And that's it.
Thanks, Sue.
We'll talk to you soon.
Buh bye?
