Hi. This is Michael Niren. I'm an immigration lawyer and founder of
VisaPlace.com. We've been asked an interesting question. Can I immigrate to
Canada without a job offer? Can I immigrate to Canada without a job offer?
Well, the answer is certainly, yes. You don't necessarily need a job offer
to immigrate to Canada. There are a number of categories where you could
potentially qualify without a job offer. One is a federal skilled worker
category. Now, if you have a job offer, of course, it
could potentially help you qualify but technically speaking you don't
necessarily need a job offer. So the federal skilled worker category is one
option where you are evaluated based on your education, your work experience
abroad, your ability to speak English or French, your age, et cetera.
There's also the investor category, where depending upon your net worth and
your business experience, you could qualify for immigration without a job
offer. There's a CEC category as well, the Canadian Experience Class,
doesn't necessarily require that you have a job offer.
So certainly, there's many ways to come to Canada, even if you don't have a
job offer. In other countries, it's often more difficult because a job
offer is essential. Now, Canada also has what we call the Provincial
Nominee Programs, PNP's and many of our provinces have their own immigration
programs. Many of those do require a job offer to qualify but
sometimes they don't as well. Some PNP programs, for example, in Ontario
we have the investor program, a job offer isn't necessarily required. So,
even under the PNP there are opportunities for immigration without a job
offer. So, hopefully this is giving you some idea
of the categories and the options for you. Thank you very much and have
a great day.
