Aerocut Tutorial - How to quickly select my image
Using Aerocut for the first time
lets you discover the program's unique features.
The first step is to send your images to Digipeeks' servers:
this is easily done by dragging and dropping it in Aerocut main window.
Automatically, Aerocut sends the image to Digipeeks' servers
that analyze and draw all the possible contours
You can track the progress of your requests
by positioning the mouse over the status bar at the bottom left of the window.
Alternatively, you can open the Task manager panel by pressing
Cmd+8 (Mac)
or Ctrl+8 (Win)
After the server sends back the contours,
a thumbnail of your image appears in the panel "Available RealEdges"
Double click on the thumbnail and start choosing the paths of your interest!
You can send a bunch of images by just dragging all of them in the main window
Aerocut will take care of them silently
while you work on your image.
To show the contours of the image, click on the button "RealEdges"
in the Display panel or press the key 'v'.
You can adjust the transparency of the lines by moving the slider.
To start the selection, choose the tool QuickCut
in the Tool panel or press thekey 'x'.
You can choose the starting point of the selection.
Move the mouse over the area and see the best suggestion provided by Aerocut
You can set the precision of the selection at any time
by switching between Precise and Fast mode.
Find this setting in the Property panel or simply press the key 'q'.
The Precise mode is best suited for noisy images
while Fast mode selects the path with less mouse clicks.
Try switching between the two modes to see the differences.
If your image is very noisy and/or compressed you can smooth the path
by activating the feature "Smooth path" by pressing Ctrl+Shift+b.
You can press the key 'n' to strengthen the smoothing and the key 'b' to reduce it
Modify the zoom by pressing the key 'z' and holding it while dragging the mouse up and down.
With Aerocut you can work with a lower zoom level than you are used to
and at the same time obtain quality paths with lower-than-pixel resolution.
We provide the popular Bezier tool
that lets you draw a free hand selection.
If you want to undo an operation, just press the key backspace
At the end of the selection, you can display a preview of the corresponding mask
by pressing the key 'w'.
Aerocut exports your paths with .PSD files, that are compatible with Photoshop and most popular software
You can also export a .EPS/.AI file and an image with transparency layer (.PNG).
You can save the work you have done with Aerocut by clicking "Save project" in the menu.
Learning is very fast: you will be able to get your paths precisely in a few minutes.
