[Chris] Hi I’m Chris from Huppin’s, and I’ll be talking about the Sony STR-DN1010
receiver. It’s one of the new receivers from Sony, it’s a 7.1-channel home theater
receiver so you can connect 7 speakers, it has 100-watts per channel. In addition it
has 4 HDMI inputs on the back so you can plug in 4 devices, it has the 3D pass-through as
well, if you have a 3D blu-ray player and a 3D television set the receiver has to be
able to handle a 3D signal and pass it through to the TV and this one can do that. It also
has the audio return channel feature or ARC and if you have some audio at the TV and you
need to get that sound down to the receiver you don’t have to run addition audio connections
you can use that same monitor out HDMI cable that’s already connected. The Sony STR-DN1010
receiver has the standby pass-through of audio and video what this means is if you have a
device like a blu-ray player or DVR that uses HDMI connections and you have that connected
to the Sony receiver while the receiver is off it’ll allow the audio and video signal
to come through the receiver on up to the television set. It will up convert any analog
video source to near HD quality such as a VCR. This Sony receiver also features a convenient
single HDMI connection to your TV via the TV out port on the back, this means you can
run a single HDMI connection up to the television set and no matter how man devices you have
plugged in even if they are analog the receiver will convert them over to HDMI up to the TV
signal. The Sony receiver also comes with the digital cinema audio calibration, this
set up tool allows you to take the microphone that comes in the box, plug it into the front
panel of the receiver and take the microphone and place it in the room where you normally
sit to listen to the system and you start the calibration and the receiver will automatically
adjust every speaker you have in your room so you get the best sound in your receiver
location. Another unique feature I discovered when I evaluated this Sony receiver was the
S-airport connection in the back, this allows the receiver to send sound either in the back
of the room or to another part of the house wirelessly. Keep in mind additional Sony equipment
is required. I would recommend the Sony STR-DN1010 if you are looking for a great 3D compatible
receiver and especially if you have other Sony equipment. This is Chris from Huppin’s
