Hi, my name is Sarah Tillery. I am the District Coordinator for Service Learning
here at Portland Community College, and I’m also on the 50th Planning Anniversary Committee.
So we just finished a meeting last week, and some of the things we covered were
breaking out sub committees, and most importantly,
trying to figure out how to narrow down a theme for the whole year
that’s coming up in 2011-2012.
Why is a theme important? A theme is important because it’s going to help us
drive all of our programming for the year,
but it also says what we’re celebrating and why we’re celebrating
50 years of Portland Community College.
So some of the ideas that we’ve come up with are things around impact,
community, hope, the foundation, opportunity. Those sorts of things,
and we’re looking forward to narrowing some of those down and eventually putting
it to a campus vote,
so look forward to that coming soon. You can check out all the things that
are happening with the 50th Planning Committee on our website.
It’s pcc.edu/50, and we’ll look forward to hearing from you soon.
