>> Diana: James, I hate you.
I hate you.
I hate you.
>> Woman: Look, I know I'm the last person you want to hear
from right now, but I have to tell you that I'm sorry.
I'm sorry for what I did to you.
I need you to understand that I was at a bad place.
He gave me some attention, I thought he loved me.
I thought that when a man put his hands on you
that meant he loved you,
but I have to tell you you cannot allow hate
to consume you.
That's what I did.
When I was standing there about to blow his head off,
I was allowing hate to consume me, but something happened
on the inside of me that I can't even begin to explain.
So, I need you to not allow hate to consume you.
But I need you to ask God to heal you from your pain.
I need you to do that.
I need you to go forth in what God has for you.
Take back what the enemy has stolen from you.
Look, I knew you were going
to be here today, and I have something.
Take this.
And this.
Go forth in what God has for you.
>> Agent Ray: Ms. Brevard,
is there something you would like to tell me?
>> Diana: No, no I don't.
If I told you how I got in the situation I was in,
you wouldn't believe me.
You'd say I was a fool, stupid, didn't have the sense
that the good Lord gave me.
That's okay because like my brother used to say,
God rest his soul, it don't make no never mind.
The most important thing is how I got out.
When I was a little girl, I used to dream of going to Paris
and marrying a prince who had been searching
for someone like me.
I think all of us dream the dream in different ways.
I wish I could protect them all and how it truly is.
>> Hey.
>> Hey.
>> How you doing?
>> I'm all right.
How you doing?
>> You live here don't you?
>> Yeah, I just moved right up there.
>> Well, welcome to the neighborhood.
>> Thank you.
>> Look at that.
>> I know.
I'm like what is that?
>> Why does she look so --
>> Y'all talking about that girl?
>> All right.
Catch you all later.
It was nice meeting you though.
>> All right.
>> See you later.
>> Langston: Looks like you could use a little bit of help.
>> Diana: Yeah, it looks like it.
>> Langston: Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth,
for thy love is sweeter than wine.
>> Diana: Say what?
>> Langston: Song of Solomon.
I see you have an interest in poetry.
>> Diana: Yeah, right.
It's one of my classes.
I'm studying history though.
>> Langston: So where are you studying at?
>> Diana: Listen, I appreciate your help.
I need to get dinner started.
>> Langston: I'm Langston.
>> Diana: [Laughs]
>> Langston: What's funny?
>> Diana: I'm sorry it's just.
Well, nothing.
I'm Diana.
Nice meeting you.
>> Langston: Likewise, Miss Diana.
And the whole name thing let's just say my mother knew I was
going to be something special so she gave me the name of a poet.
>> Diana: I see.
So you're a poet?
>> Langston: I am a man who sees a woman as God's happiness
because of her willingness to
please, to worship, to love and to carry the burden,
the pain, of other people.
I see a woman as rich and enchanting as the hidden soils
of Africa, as deep as the deepest rivers and as
strong as the tallest mountain.
I am a man who sees a woman as provocative.
>> Diana: Yeah, you are a poet.
Yes, I better get inside.
>> Langston: Well maybe I can take you out to lunch
where we can talk about history a little more?
And I'm kind of new here so I need a tour guide.
>> Diana: I'm sorry I can't, but thank you.
>> Langston: No problem.
Take care.
>> Diana: You too.
Where are you from?
>> Langston: Hey, what's that?
>> Diana: Where are you from?
>> Langston: Memphis.
I'm from Memphis.
>> Diana: Wow.
What brings you to Virginia?
>> Langston: Actually I got a better job opportunity.
I'm a professor at Norfolk State University.
>> Diana: Really?
>> Langston: Yeah.
>> Diana: Wow.
>> Langston: I got to be going.
>> Diana: Yeah.
It was nice meeting you.
Take care.
>> James: Diana, get your *** in here!
Taking all God damn day!
Hurry up with my *** food!
I've been waiting on God damned food.
>> Diana: Can please not raise your voice?
The whole neighborhood can to hear you.
>> James: Who you been out there talking to?
>> Diana: Candy.
>> James: Candy?
Did her voice change?
>> Diana: She's hoarse.
>> James: Sounds awfully mannish to me.
>> Diana: Can we please not argue today?
>> James: Come over here and sit with me.
>> Diana: I thought you wanted dinner, James.
>> James: Please?
I ain't going to bite.
Come on a little closer.
I just want to talk to you.
>> James: You all I have in this world.
I need to know that you are with me and me only.
We do have peep holes in the *** door.
So whatever reason you felt you had to lie
to me, do not do it again.
Do you understand?
>> Diana: Yeah.
>> James: As for pretty boy across the hall,
stay the *** away from him.
You understand?
Now, get your *** in the kitchen and fix my *** food.
Hurry up.
This *** is trying to play me.
I could kill this ***.
>> Langston: Can I help you?
>> Candy: Hi, my name is Candy, and I saw you moving
in the other day and I just
wanted to stop by and welcome you into the neighborhood.
Just trying to be neighborly.
>> Langston: Thank you for that; that's very nice.
Thank you.
>> Candy: If you're not busy, I brought dinner.
>> Langston: Actually I have to go.
I have a meeting in 15 minutes.
>> Candy: Oh, okay, well there is other times.
I'm patient.
>> Bambi: Hey, how are you?
>> Langston: Hey, how you doing?
>> Bambi: No, wait I wanted to, hold on --
>> James: Eat dinner without me.
>> Diana: What?
Dinner is ready.
I'm about to fix your plate.
Where are you going?
>> Congratulations and you know what time it is.
Welcome to Hampton Roads Poetic Lounge.
We've got something special planned for you today.
So sit back, relax and enjoy the sounds of Jacoby.

>> James: Come back to bed.
>> Diana: I will.
I just need to finish this by tomorrow.
>> James: Quit
>> Diana: I can't quit, I want to do this.
>> James: Do you want to be my wife?
Ain't this why you married me?
Nothing else should matter.
>> Diana: That's not fair, and you know it.
>> James: Listen at you.
You selfish little ***.
All you do is go to school and study.
I have to beg your *** to cook.
Get your *** over here.
>> Diana: James, please don't do this.
>> James: Beg for my forgiveness.
You don't think I don't see what's going on between you
and pretty boy across the hall?
>> Diana: No, I don't even know him.
>> James: I said I see it!
>> Diana: Just wait.
I'm sorry.
Please forgive me.
>> James: How sorry are you?
>> Diana: I'm very sorry.
>> James: I can't hear that.
>> Diana: I'm very sorry
>> James: How sorry are you?
>> Diana: I'm very sorry.
>> James: Crawl to me.
>> Diana: James, please.
>> James: Get your *** up.
You tell anybody I will kill you and you know I will.
We had a little sister.
>> We had a little sister.
>> But she hath no --
>> -- And she hath no ***.
>> What shall we do for our sisters in the day
when she shall be spoken for?
If she be a wall, we will build upon her a palace of silver;
and if she be a door, we will enclose her with
boards of cedar.
I am a wall.
>> I am a wall.
>> And my *** like towers
then I was in his eyes as one that found favor.
>> James: You ready for another round?
>> Diana: I can't.
I'm going to be late for school.
>> James: School?
Hey, your husband come first.
Now take care of me.
What the *** is that?
What the *** is that?
What is that?
You ain't going to school today.
Now take care of me.
You want to go to school?
Come get this lesson.
I run this.
You're going to do what I say.
You understand?
You keep resisting, I'm going to run your head
through that *** mirror.
Do you understand?
Take your *** to school and when you come
back we're going another round.
Hurry up.
>> Diana: I broke my screen today
and I was wondering if you could fix it?
Langston?
>> Langston: Can I join you?
>> Diana: Sure.
What are you doing here?
>> Langston: I just got a haircut next door.
>> Diana: Oh.
>> Langston: Yeah.
>> Diana: So how are you?
>> Langston: A lot better, a lot better.
How are you doing?
>> Diana: Good.
>> Langston: How you really doing?
>> Diana: No, really I'm okay.
I just got a lot going on.
What?
>> Langston: You're just beautiful.
>> Diana: Look I think you,
there's something you should know.
I'm married and I don't think this is appropriate.
>> Langston: I'm sorry.
Forgive me.
I just wanted to tell you that you're beautiful.
I really didn't see the harm in it.
>> Diana: No, it's okay.
I just, maybe you should leave.
>> Langston: Of course, but married or not
if you need anything I'm here for you.
>> Diana: What do you mean?
I don't need anything.
>> Langston: I'm just saying.
>> Diana: I know what you're saying.
Look, just mind your own business.
>> Langston: Look everybody knows, okay?
We know that your husband beats you.
I don't even know why you stay with him.
Just leave.
>> Diana: I've heard enough.
>> Langston: Look, I care about you, all right?
>> Diana: You don't even know me.
How can you care for me?
I mean
I'm just a stranger to you.
You don't know me.
>> Langston: I remember the first time I met you I felt
like I had known you all my life.
I felt like I had that connection with you.
We don't have to be strangers.
>> Diana: Connected?
Boy, you bout lost your mind.
>> Langston: So you didn't feel any connection at all?
Hmm?
>> Diana: Just let me go.
Excuse me, I'm sorry I thought I could wait,
but I'm going to have to go.
Maybe I can bring it back another day.
>> Sales Clerk: You got my card?
>> Diana: No, I don't, but thank you.
I'm sorry.
I'll come back.
Thank you.
>> Sales Clerk: Have a good day.
>> Diana: You too.
>> Diana: Boy, it's about time.
Get over here.
>> Bitty: So what's going on?
>> Diana: School been kicking my butt.
>> Bitty: I see school ain't the only thing kicking your butt.
I'm telling you I will kill this dude.
I will kill him.
You need to pack your bags and get out of Dodge,
get out of Dodge as soon as you can.
>> Diana: Bitty, please.
I don't want to spend what little time I have
with you arguing about James.
>> Bitty: I'm not going to let this go.
>> Diana: Bitty, where's my glasses, let it go.
Just forget it.
>> Bitty: Jesus.
Wait a minute.
I'm sorry.
You're my favorite cousin and the only family I have
but I can't see you going through this.
Look at your face.
Look at me.
I was always there to protect you.
I can't see you living like this.
Really. Do you understand that?
>> Diana: You get on my nerves, Bitty.
But I love you.
I'm just so excited that you're here.
How long are you staying?
>> Bitty: Probably leaving tomorrow.
>> Diana: What?
Bitty, tomorrow?
>> Bitty: I have a case I'm working on.
>> Diana: Ewe.
Who would have ever thought you'd end
up in forensic science?
I mean you of all people who were scared of a little mouse
and would kill yourself just to get away from one.
>> Bitty: Stop it, but yeah, mice, I hate em.
>> Diana: Wow.
So what kind of case you got?
>> Bitty: They found a body in the creek.
>> Diana: Oh.
>> Bitty: Headless.
>> Diana: Never mind.
I don't want to know.
Never mind.
>> Bitty: Well, you asked.
But look, you still in church?
Hey, wait, I'm not done talking about your face with you.
>> Diana: Oh Lord, here we go.
We grew up in the church together.
So why you trying to act brand new?
>> Diana: You know all of that changed when our family,
our whole family, was killed in a bus accident.
Remember that, Bitty?
A bus that was on the way
to a missionary convention or did you forget?
Now you tell me why I'm not interested in going to church?
>> Bitty: Well, look, you can't hold that against God.
Diana, you have no excuses.
None at all.
So --
>> Diana: I can't believe you.
I mean I anticipated this day to come, I was so excited
about seeing your face and you're here lecturing me.
Why are you here, Bitty?
>> Bitty: I came here to see my cousin
and to make sure you were okay,
but at the same time as I look at you, man,
it's just messed up right now.
I don't know what's going on with you and James,
but I suspect it's not good.
>> Diana: Look, I'll take everything into consideration
and I do love you.
Can we go eat first?
>> Bitty: Wow, my so called favorite cousin just ignored me.
How you just ignore me like that?
Come on, man.
Have you ever just thought of the situation
to ask yourself why, what the heck am I doing?
You're a child of God.
You are a child of God and peace is supposed
to be throughout everything;
throughout your body, throughout your soul.
It was brought up with us when we was in church.
Go see the police.
Go get some help.
>> Diana: No, I'm not going to the police.
>> Bitty: You need help.
Things are only going to get worse.
Just look at yourself, man.
If things get worse, you don't want that to happen.
>> Diana: Okay.
Okay.
On one condition.
>> Bitty: What is that?
>> Diana: I'll go if you go with me.
>> Bitty: I got you.
>> Diana: And one more thing.
Can we please eat?
I'm hungry, I'm starving over here.
>> Bitty: It's all love, cousin.
You know I got you.
I love you, baby.
>> Diana: I love you, too.
>> Bitty: Let's get some food.
>> Diana: It's about time.
>> Agent Monica: You going to lunch?
>> Police Officer #1: Yeah, just up the street.
I'm going to get some chicken or something.
I'm going to bring it right back to my desk.
>> Agent Monica: Okay.
>> Police Officer #1: I've got too much work to do.
>> Agent Monica: Okay, that sounds good, that sounds good.
I was thinking about chicken too.
>> Diana: I changed my mind.
>> Bitty: You changed your mind?
You can't change your mind we're already here.
>> Diana: I don't want to do this.
Maybe we can do it another day.
>> Bitty: No, we got to do it now.
I'm here now.
We got to get him off the streets for real.
>> Diana: Please let's spend a little time together.
You're not going to be here long.
>> Bitty: We already talked about this.
We're going to do it.
>> Police Officer #1: Ma'am, can I help you?
>> Diana: Yes, I was just wondering if I can talk
to someone about a matter?
>> Police Officer #1: Ma'am, what matter?
>> Diana: Well, I was just wondering
if I could talk to somebody.
>> Police Officer #1: I'd be happy to help you.
I just need a little more information
so I can direct you to the right person.
>> Diana: Okay.
Well, I was having an issue at home
and I was just wondering what my rights are.
>> Agent Monica: Excuse me.
I'll take it from here.
You go ahead on to lunch.
>> Diana: Okay.
>> Agent Monica: Hi, My name is Agent Monica Davis
and I can help you.
Come on in.
>> Bitty: I'll be out here.
>> Diana: Okay.
>> Agent Monica: Please come and have a seat.
>> Diana: Thank you.
>> Agent Monica: Now how can I help you?
>> Diana: This is not easy.
I don't want to cause any trouble.
I was just wondering if I leave my situation at home,
well, I was just wondering if I'd be safe?
I was just wondering if it would be possible.
I don't want to die.
>> Agent Monica: Has anyone threatened you or hurt you, Ms?
>> Diana: Well, yeah, my husband he gets stressed out at times.
I'm sorry, my name is Diana Brevard, I'm sorry, but yeah,
he gets stressed out at times.
>> Agent Monica: And he gets relief
from using you as a punching bag?
>> Diana: Yes.
Unfortunately.
>> Agent Monica: Let me ask you a question what are you prepared
to do?
>> Diana: I don't have anywhere to go.
I don't have any money, no family and I'm in school.
I just, I don't know what to do.
I really don't know what to do.
>> Agent Monica: Slow down, Mrs. Brevard.
We can help you.
>> Agent Ray: All right.
Here's that paperwork you've been asking for.
>> Agent Monica: Thanks, Ray.
What would I do without you?
>> Agent Ray: Probably beat yourself.
>> Agent Monica: Hmm.
Ray, this here is Mrs. Brevard.
>> Agent Ray: Nice to meet you.
>> Diana: Likewise.
>> Agent Monica: Her husband is very abusive and she wants out.
>> Agent Ray: Well, that's good.
Tell you what let's walk down the hall here
and get some paperwork done for you.
>> Diana: Wait,
I'm not ready for that.
I just came to ask questions and how to go about getting out.
>> Agent Ray: Well, listen we're here to help, okay?
Domestic violence is more public than it used to be.
Okay? So don't feel ashamed or embarrassed.
All right?
Let's work ourselves a game plan and find out where you're going
and what your rights are.
Now are there any kids involved?
>> Diana: No, I don't have any children.
>> Agent Monica: Well, no one has the right
to abuse you mentally or physically.
>> Diana: I don't have anywhere to go and
I don't want him to get into any trouble or anything.
>> Agent Monica: There are shelters
for women just like you.
Well trained, certified people
who can help you get your life back together,
but all you have to do is press charges
and get a restraining order.
>> Diana: Wait, press charges?
Like I said, I'm not ready for all of that.
I mean I just had questions.
Look, I appreciate your time
and I'll take everything into consideration.
I just -- this is just too much.
Thank you.
Have a good day.
>> Agent Ray: Mrs. Brevard, wait.
Look, yes, we have time to talk and yes we can help,
but if you decide to go back to this man and he hits you,
you might lose your life.
Look all I'm trying to say is you took a big step
in coming forward and asking for help.
Keep moving forward because if you walk
out that door you might not make it back.
>> Agent Monica: Ray, let's find out who her husband is
and do a background check on him
because we do not want to lose another one.
>> Agent Ray: On it.
>> Langston: Do you know her?
>> Diana: No.
>> Langston: That's you.
>> Diana: No, that's not me.
>> Langston: Well, she was staring
at you like she knew you.
>> Diana: I don't know her.
>> Langston: Great.
>> Diana: I don't know what that was about.
Anyway.
>> Langston: I have looked for you my entire life.
>> Diana: I've been here,
but you're too late.
We can never be.
>> Langston: Diana, I would die for you.
>> Diana: You don't know me.
This should have never happened.
>> Langston: You have my rib inside of you.
When I look at you, I see a reflection of my own self.
>> Diana: I'm married.
>> Langston: No weapon formed against you shall prosper.
>> Diana: What?
>> Langston: Diana, you have to leave or he's going to kill you.
Just leave.
If you leave, he can't touch you, he can't hurt you anymore.
You have to tell yourself no more.
>> Diana: How can you sit there
and give me a scripture from the Bible?
I mean you just had sex with a married woman for God's sake.
You don't have the right.
What we did is and was wrong, Langston.
>> Langston: Yeah, and it's wrong
for your husband to beat you.
>> Diana: That's my problem; not yours.
>> Langston: Okay, hey.
Look, I'm not trying to argue, okay.
Now, I admit things moved a little fast between us.
You have your school, you have your own problems at home
and I'm trying to make you my woman.
I apologize.
Can we just start over?
>> Diana: Look, I'm sorry too, Langston.
Can we just pretend this never happened?
>> Langston: Look, Diana, you have to fight back.
>> Diana: I went to the police station today already.
>> Langston: What did they say?
What did you say?
>> Diana: They said they could help me
but I'd have to press charges.
I didn't get into it with them
because James would kill me before they could get me
to safety.
I know he would so I didn't do anything but walk out.
I don't know what to do.
>> Langston: Give him a taste of his own medicine.
>> Diana: You really are a crazy dude.
I've never met anyone like you before.
>> Langston: Your bruise is starting to show.
See that's why you need to fight back.
>> Diana: I can't fight back.
You trying to get me killed early or something?
>> Langston: Diana, I can help you, okay?
I can teach you how to fight.
>> Diana: What are you going to teach me,
Mr. Langston, the poet?
Pretty boy.
What are you going to teach me?
You want me to fight him with poetry?
Yeah.
>> Langston: That's not funny.
Let me tell you something, all right.
Your man is sick.
He has something deep down in him that just ain't right.
Now the other day he followed me.
And he watched me, and I know it was him.
I didn't see his face, but I know it was him.
He got something in him
that I don't even think the police are ready for.
He's the type of person that will kill you and clean
up the mess before anyone even noticed
that you were gone or what happened.
Before I moved from Memphis I grew up in a neighborhood
that was run by gangs and crime
and anything else you can imagine.
My father left when I was very young.
So one night some boys that broke in
and started going through the dressers.
When they saw that my mom was awake, they beat her
with a baseball bat until she died.
See, I vowed to make it up to my mother
because she didn't deserve to die like that.
So I started my own gang and taught myself martial arts
and we only used it for the good of the neighborhood.
So if we saw someone doing crime, we took care of it.
We took care of it so that no one else would get hurt and so
that the streets stayed safe.
I moved here to get away from the past.
I got tired of fighting the same fight over and over again,
but I'll fight for you, Diana.
You need to give your husband a taste of his own medicine.
I bet you he knows that you're here right now.
>> Diana: I better go.
>> Langston: Look, Diana, you've got to stop being scared.
Stop crumbling, okay?
Meet me at the beach, at Buckroe Beach,
and I'll take care of the rest.
>> Diana: I better go.
Oh, my God.
Did you do that for real?
>> Bitty: That ***, crazy, man.
>> Diana: Why did you drop her off like that, Bitty?
>> James: Can y'all shut the hell up?
>> Bitty: What?
>> Diana: Bitty, don't.
>> Bitty: Hell, no.
Man, what's wrong with you.
>> James: Look go put some clothes on.
>> Diana: James.
>> James: Over there rubbing on his arm and ***.
>> Bitty: Are you sick or something, dog?
He's a lame, a straight lame.
>> James: Who the *** are you calling lame?
You can get the *** out.
>> Diana: James, please.
>> Bitty: I'll be glad to.
>> Diana: Listen you two don't do this.
Bitty, please sit back down.
>> Bitty: I got this,
I got this.
Don't worry about it.
>> James: I don't like your sorry *** anyway.
>> Bitty: Good.
>> James: Big *** cop.
>> Bitty: Good.
>> Diana: Don't y'all do this; please.
>> Bitty: But what you going to do about it?
>> James: Stay right there, stay right there.
>> Diana: Bitty, what are you doing?
>> James: What you want to do?
What do you want to do?
>> Diana: Please, don't do this.
>> James: Say something.
Hmm?
>> Diana: Just walk away.
Please, don't do this.
>> James: You the tough cop now, aren't you?
>> Diana: James, please, put the knife down.
Please don't do this.
>> James: Yeah.
>> Bitty: So this is how you feel.
>> James: Yeah, say something now.
>> Diana: Don't do this.
>> Bitty: Going to use a knife.
>> James: You want to take this blade?
>> Diana: Please put the knife down.
>> James: Shut up, ***.
>> Bitty: You weak, boy.
>> James: You want to taste this blade?
Hmm?
>> Diana: Please put the knife down.
>> James: Shut up, ***!
>> Diana: No.
Oh.
>> James: This is your fault and you're going
to help me clean this up.
You mention to anybody what happened here I'm going
to kill you.
Oh, yeah, you better believe that.
Do you understand?
Do you understand?
Come on.
Come on!
>> Diana: No!
>> James: Come here.
Come here, grab his leg.
>> James: Stop all that crying and grab his leg.
>> James: I said grab his leg.
You think I'm playing with you?
You think I'm playing with you?
You want to be next?
>> Preacher: I can see.
Hey, give me a few seconds.
I know you don't know me at all, but God knows all about it.
Whatever it is he has the answer.
>> Diana: I don't think God wants to help anyone like me.
I haven't been a good person.
>> Preacher: Listen, we all have fallen short
of the glory of God.
We all makes mistakes, but the cool thing
about God is you can return to
Him to be cleansed of our sins.
Why don't you talk to Him about it?
>> Diana: I don't even know what to say.
>> Preacher: Just say what's on your heart.
I always try to do the right thing.
And I try so hard to do good.
But I messed up.
I've sinned against my husband,
but God, I'm sorry for what I've done.
And, oh, God, Bitty.
He's gone.
And he loved me more than anything in this world
and I was the cause of him -- tell me what you want me to do.
I don't want to live in this torment anymore.
Please help me.
I don't know if you can hear me, I don't know
if you can hear me cry out to you,
and I don't have anybody else.
God, please, I need you to help me.
I don't want him to kill me.
I don't want him to destroy me.
Can you help somebody like me?
>> Diana: Sorry I'm late.
>> Langston: I didn't think you were going to come.
>> Diana: I'm ready.
>> Langston: Sit down.
You're going to bring that up every single time
to cover that up?
>> Diana: I do what I got to do.
>> Langston: Put it away.
>> Diana: I thought you were going to teach me how to fight.
>> Langston: And I am.
>> Diana: You can't do that sitting down.
>> Langston: It starts in the mind.
>> Diana: What do you mean?
>> Langston: Just trust me.
>> Diana: Okay.
I'll sit down.
>> Langston: All right.
Now you're going to close your eyes, get relaxed, okay?
And focused.
Tell me what you hear.
Listen to everything that's around you.
Diana,
you okay? You can do this?
>> Diana: Yeah, I can do this.
>> Langston: Okay.
Now focus, okay?
Listen to all the sounds that are around you.
Try to figure out what they are and where they're coming from.
Now become those sounds.
Just let them manifest inside of you.
Tell me what you see right now.
Look, I don't know what's going on, but you're going
to need to fix it, okay?
Hit me right here.
>> Diana: I'm not going to hit you.
>> Langston: It's going to make you feel better
and plus I'm teaching you something.
So right here.
No like, make a fist like you're about to fight somebody
and just hit me right here.
Don't push me.
All right, look.
>> Diana: I don't want to hit you.
>> Langston: Okay, in Wing Chun Kung Fu, all right?
That's what I'm about to teach you right now,
you use your whole body to punch; not just your arm.
>> Diana: Okay.
>> Langston: Okay?
You're going to use your body with structure
to make every punch as powerful as they can be.
All right so keep your arms tucked in and you're going to
punch straight out using your whole body, okay?
>> Diana: Okay.
>> Langston: All right, let's try it.
Right here.
All right you're doing good,
but just put a little bit more power behind it.
I'm going to be fine.
>> Diana: Okay.
>> Langston: Let's go.
>> Diana: You ready?
>> Langston: Let's go.
That's one, come on.
>> Diana: Oh, I'm sorry.
I hit you for real didn't I?
>> Langston: No, it's okay.
You're good.
>> Diana: You're going to be sore.
>> Langston: No, I'm not.
>> Diana: I'm sorry.
>> Langston: What are you doing, girl?
>> Diana: You're playing.
>> Langston: Let's go.
The day's over.
The day's over.
I don't know what you were thinking.
I'm just kidding.
That was good, I'm just kidding, but that was good.
>> Diana: You sure?
>> Langston: That was very good.
I'm proud of you.
>> Man 1: Is that them?
>> James: Yeah, that's them.
I need y'all to put in some work for me.
I need you all to take this dude out for me.
>> Man 2: What about her?
>> James: Leave her to me.
>> Man 1: We want our money first.
>> James: I'm good for your money you piece of ***.
You two just make sure y'all do the job.
I've got two more guys out here already.
>> Woman: You know what, no.
No, I don't have time to entertain you right now.
Look, I've got to go.
>> James: Everywhere we go he always there.
>> Diana: He lives in the same apartment complex.
>> James: At the movies, we went bowling, he's always there.
>> Diana: He wasn't there.
>> James: Don't lie to me.
>> Diana: I won't lie to you.
>> James: You think I'm stupid?
>> Diana: No.
>> James: You messing with him?
>> Diana: No, I'm not messing with him.
>> James: I told you about that ***, didn't I?
Didn't I tell you about that ***?
Huh? Huh?
>> Diana: Oh!
>> Langston: James!
>> James: Can I help you, ***?
>> Langston: Is she is all right?
Is she all right?
>> James: Look, man.
I'm going to let you live today.
I ain't got time for this stupid ***.
>> Langston: Look, First of all I ain't going nowhere
until I know if she's all right.
>> Woman: I'll hit you back later.
Okay, I will.
I promise.
All right.
Later.
That girl is crazy.
Oh my God.
I got to call the police.
>> James: Langston, if you don't get away from my car right now,
I promise you I will kill you.
>> Langston: Come on.
>> Diana: No, look, he killed my cousin, Bitty.
You've got to get out of here.
>> Langston: Who's Bitty?
>> Diana: You've just got to go.
>> James: Welcome to Mama's House.
>> Diana: Langston, come on!
>> Langston: Diana, go to the car.
>> Diana: Langston.
>> Langston: I told you to go to the car.
>> Diana: I'm not leaving you.
>> Langston: This is my Sifu.
>> Sifu: Hey, how are you doing?
>> Diana: Hi.
>> Sifu:
Look I know you said you wanted to teach her out here
but you might want to use the school.
It's a little friendlier crowd.
>> Langston: All right.
>> Sifu: Take care.
>> Langston: Take care.
>> Sifu: I'm in trouble with SiMo.
Let me get out of here.
>> Langston: All right.
>> Diana: Hello?
>> Langston: Diana?
>> Diana: Hey.
>> Langston: Hey.
I miss you.
>> Diana: Where are you?
>> Langston: I'm home.
I've moved.
>> Diana: You did?
>> Langston: Yes, Mission College, 21 East Orange.
I wanted you to have a safe place to come to.
>> Diana: That's a bit extreme.
>> Langston: Well I care about you.
I want to go with you to that secluded house James took you
to so you can get your things.
>> Diana: It may be too dangerous I think.
>> Langston: That's why I'm going.
>> Diana: Listen, after what happened at the beach,
James called himself apologizing to me and wanted
to take me for a ride so I went.
I figured maybe all of this would come to an end.
Well, he pulled into a parking lot
and got out of the car, yanked me out of the car
and started beating me in front of everybody.
Someone must have called for help because the police came
and when they asked me what happened
I lied and said it was all a mistake.
I told them I fell and he was just trying to help me.
>> Langston: Diana, why are you doing this to yourself?
You know what?
I can't take this anymore.
Look, I've got to go.
>> Diana: Langston, don't, wait.
Can I come in?
>> Langston: Come on.
>> Diana: I know you don't understand what I did yesterday.
>> Langston: No, you're right I don't.
I don't understand.
>> Diana: Please don't yell at me.
>> Langston: Look.
Hey, I just feel a little helpless sometimes, all right?
I don't know what I would do if something happened to you.
>> Diana: I'm going to be okay.
>> Langston: You need to go to the police station and tell them
that your husband killed somebody.
>> Diana: I'm scared.
>> Langston: If you don't tell them,
you're just as guilty as he is.
>> Diana: Langston,
I think he's planning on killing me.
>> Langston: All right, look, I'll go with you.
We'll go down together so you don't have to go alone,
but you've got to tell somebody.
Can I help you?
>> Agent Ray: Yeah, Mr. Cooper?
>> Langston: Yes?
>> Agent Ray: Yeah, I was just wondering if may have seen,
well, Mrs. Brevard, funny thing I was just wondering
where you were.
Making sure that everything was okay with you.
>> Diana: Thank you, Detective.
Everything is okay.
>> Agent Ray: I was just wondering
if I could ask you a couple of questions?
>> Diana: Well, I --
>> Langston: I really don't see what the problem is.
It's just a couple of questions.
I'll wait for you outside.
>> Agent Ray: Actually it has something to do with you too.
>> Langston: What's this about?
>> Agent Ray: Do either of you think that Mr. Brevard,
your husband, is involved in any kind of suspicious activity.
>> Langston: Yes, yes, yes he is.
>> Diana: Langston!
Look, Detective, me and my husband we had a disagreement
and we had a little fight but we're cool now.
Everything is okay.
>> Agent Ray: So what is the relationship
between you and Mister?
>> Langston: Cooper.
Langston Cooper.
>> Agent Ray: Cooper.
>> Langston: Me and Diana, we're just friends.
>> Agent Ray: I see.
>> Diana: This is a little awkward.
Detective, what is going on?
>> Agent Ray: Yes, this does seem kind of awkward,
but what is awkward is that you think everything is okay
as you say.
The last time I was at your place I found something kind
of suspicious outside.
I used my camera and I noticed there was a great amount
of blood, blood that has been cleaned up.
Mrs. Brevard, if you are involved in some kind of crime
or you witnessed some kind of crime, you need to talk now
or this could end up ugly for you.
>> Langston: Look, she isn't involved in any type of crime
or anything illegal, all right?
She's just trying to survive.
>> Agent Ray: You know you could have left
but you chose to stay; why is that?
>> Langston: Let's hurry up so we can go get your things.
>> Agent Ray: Look, Mrs. Brevard, if you're in some kind
of trouble, you need to call me.
Okay?
I'm just here to help.
I'll let myself out.
>> Diana: I haven't had the chance
to take the covers off the couches.
>> Langston: It's cool.
Grab your stuff.
Let's pack that up and we're going to get out of here.
All right?
>> Diana: I was going to show you something.
Remember this?
>> Langston: That's cute.
Grab your stuff.
We've got to get out of here.
>> Diana: All right.
>> Langston: I'm going to change shirts really quick.
>> Langston: Diana?
>> Diana: Let's just go,
let's just go while we've got a chance to go.
What are you doing?
What are you doing with that gun?
>> Langston: Go to the end of the road and wait for me.
>> Diana: Langston, let's just go.
>> Langston: Go to the end of the road and wait for me.
I'm going to be there, all right?
Come on. Time to go.
Go ahead.
>> Langston: Hey.
Big bad. Hold your head up.
>> James: What are you doing?
Come on, man.
You know you ain't going to get away with this, right?
>> Langston: You need to learn a lesson, James.
God didn't put women on this earth for you to beat them.
>> James: You have no right to do this.
>> Langston: I don't have a right?
I don't have a right?
You sure about that?
I mean you seem to think
that you have a right to beat your wife.
>> James: Look, man.
I promise I will not hit her again.
Let me go!
Whatever you got planned; don't do it.
Bitty tried to kill me first.
It was an accident.
>> Langston: You know, James, funny you should say
that because see around here accidents do happen.
>> James: Oh, Lord, man.
Please. Please let me live.
Please, I'm sorry.
I promise you I'll go to church, I will get saved and everything.
Please. Please let me live.
>> Langston: You a God-fearing man now, huh?
>> James: I'm sorry man.
>> Langston: Don't be sorry to me.
You didn't hit me.
You didn't hit me.
I tell you what though go ahead and hold that head
up so we can get business taken care of.
You hear me?
>> James: Come on, man.
>> Langston: Hold it up.
>> James: Come on, man!
Please.
>> Langston: Don't please.
Don't beg me.
Don't please me.
>> Diana: Langston.
>> Langston: Don't please me, James.
>> Diana: Don't do it.
He ain't worth it.
Put the gun down and let's go.
>> Langston: I told you to go outside.
I told you to go to the end of the road.
>> Diana: I saw this woman out there.
I don't know but I think we need to go.
Let's just get out of here.
>> Langston: Let me tell you something, James.
>> James: What now?
>> Langston: You want to get smart with me?
You want to get --
>> Diana: Let's go.
Let's go.
>> Langston: I tell you what you touch one more person,
one more, I want you to.
You're going to be seeing me again.
I will kill you, James.
I will kill you.
You hear me?
You touch one more person, I will kill you.
>> James: What?
>> Diana: That's what.
>> James: Hey!
Damn.
How the hell am I supposed to get out of here?
Nobody knows I'm in this hell hole.
Baby. Oh, God, babe, I'm glad you're here.
Help me get out of this.
We need to get out of here.
>> Woman: Help you?
Are you serious?
All the times you beat me and call me
out of my name oh now you want me to help you?
I will never help you
and I always knew you were capable of ***.
>> James: What?
You stupid, ***.
You better be glad somebody want your nasty ***.
I'm not married to you.
Now get your *** over here,
let me loose before I beat your *** ***!
What the ***?
>> Woman: Lord, help me.
Help me not to kill him.
>> James: He can't help you.
You just as whorish as I am.
You're *** a married man.
Yeah, you ***, you trit.
You ***.
You ain't ***.
Yeah.
>> Woman: My grandmamma always told me just call on the name
of Jesus and He will be here.
>> James: He can't *** help you.
>> Woman: God is a loving God and he is a forgiving God
and I'm calling on his name.
>> James: He is going to forgive your sorry ***?
You sleeping with a *** married man.
Now what? You like to share?
Hmm?
>> Woman: You disgust me.
You disgust me.
And what I have come to realize is I deserve better.
I'm sorry I ever met you,
I'm sorry I ever got involved with you.
You are nothing.
How about that?
You're nothing.
>> James: Get that gun out of my face.
>> Woman: I'm sick of you!
I'm sick of your mouth, shut up!
I'm sick of you!
Shut up!
>> James: Please, don't do it.
Don't shoot me.
>> Woman: You know what?
You ain't even worth it.
You ain't worth my natural freedom or my spiritual freedom.
I hate you.
>> James: Look, let me go.
Cut me loose.
Please cut me loose.
You're always going to be my ***.
Always.
You're going to do what the *** I say.
Untie me.
Unfucking tie me!
>> Woman: No.
Never.
>> James: Oh, God.
Can you stop *** whining and *** untie me?
My chest is getting tight.
Please, cut me loose.
My chest is tight.
I'm having trouble breathing.
I'm not playing.
I can't breathe.
>> Woman: Oh my God.
Oh, Lord. Oh, God
what am I doing here?
God, what am I doing?
Oh my God.
Lord, I need you right now, Lord.
I need you right now, God!
God, I know you are a God of mercy!
You are a God of forgiveness so, Lord,
right now in the name of Jesus,
I repent, Lord, I repent for what I've done, God.
Please forgive me, Lord.
I'm so sorry.
I'm so sorry.
God.
Thank you for forgiveness.
Thank you.
>> Agent Monica: Hi, Mrs. Brevard.
>> Diana: Hi.
>> Agent Monica: Thanks for coming in.
Have a seat.
>> Diana: Sure.
What's going on?
>> Agent Monica: Mrs. Brevard, I just wanted to let you know
that we did get the autopsy report back
on your husband and he did, in fact,
die of a heart attack, but why he was tied
up in the shed we don't know,
but after a thorough investigation it did open
up a whole new can of worms on him.
>> Diana: What do you mean?
>> Agent Monica: Apparently your husband was planning to have you
and your friend, Langston Cooper, killed.
And also he was having an affair and she claims
that he abused her as well.
And then we found a body of Mr. Eric Dames at a dump
and he was stabbed multiple times.
His DNA matched the samples at your apartment.
>> Diana: He was my cousin.
>> Agent Monica: Mrs. Brevard, I know this is a bad situation
for you all around, but if you have anything to do
with this *** now is the time to tell me.
>> Diana: Look,
my husband killed my cousin and he said that
he would kill me if I told.
And he made me help him get rid of the body.
He was all the family I had.
He loved me more than anything.
There is no way I would have wanted,
there's no way I wanted him dead.
I loved my cousin.
>> Agent Monica: I know this is a bad time for you
so I'll straighten this out at the station
because you have a funeral for a loved one to plan for
but the next time you're involved
in a domestic violence relationship, don't take matters
in your hands such as these.
Just walk away.
Just leave.
Just leave.
>> Diana: Hey, you.
>> Langston: What's going on.
>> Diana: Nothing.
Just coming to see you.
>> Langston: Come on, get in.
>> Diana: Cool.
>> Langston: It's over.
>> Diana: No, it's not.
I have something I want to show you.
It's a little beat up but.
>> Langston: You sure you want to do this?
>> Diana: Yeah, I want to do this.
I need to do this.
>> Langston: All right.
Well, I'm in it with you.
>> Diana: You know you saved my life.
You showed me what real love is.
You risked your own life to save mine.
And you helped me to see that I have the power
to control my own future.
Langston, you were right when you said no weapon that's formed
against me shall proper even if those weapons are my own,
like mentally believing
that I couldn't leave the hell I was in.
You know, that woman that was having an affair
with my husband,
she gave me this and she is now free
from bondage of abuse and control.
And she's helping women just like us
that are in the same hell.
And I need to join her to help fight these crimes
against women and children.
I mean these cases, they are disturbing.
And this is my first slum bag that needs
to be taught a lesson.
>> Langston: I'm very proud of you.
>> Diana: There's something else.
>> Langston: What is it?
>> Diana: I want to,
I want to get my life right with God.
>> Langston: That's a very good thing;
so why do you look so sad?
>> Diana: I want to thank you for everything you've done.
Everything.
You've really been there for me.
Langston, I will always love you.
>> Langston: Come on, Diana, no.
Look, no. Okay.
We've been through a lot, okay?
Look.
Thy love is beautiful.
O my love, as Tirzah, comely as Jerusalem,
terrible as an army with banners.
Turn away thine eyes from me for they have overcome me.
Thy hair is as flock of goats from Gilead.
>> Diana: Langston.
>> Langston: Diana.
