This Tower is called Cappellini Rope Factory Tower
At first glance, it seems part of a castle but after you notice the reinforced structure, you may have some doubts about it
This tower is one of 2 symbols of Incirano quarter, the other is the bell tower of the Parish Church
I think this tower is just in the symbol of the quarter
It's actually been built recently. At the beginning of the century
In fact Gabriella Guerci’s book tells us that few Fascist art critics spoke well about it
It was part of the Cappellini Rope Factory, also called Cappellini Hemp Mill
The Battlement at the top is not original. It was made in a later restoration
In the original project, that you can find in Gabriella Guerci’s book, it was designed similar to a bell tower
Although it was a water tank, they possibly wanted to build a copy of the nearby bell tower of Santa Maria Assunta Parish Church, that is nearby
This tower is the only part that remains of Cappellini Rope Factory plant. Other parts were demolished.
What you see around the tower is even more recent. It’s De Gasperi square, made in 1997.
Engineering project by architect Valerio Testa. final project by Studio Associato De Simone Pietro e Figli.
The aim of this square was given to Incirano a place where people of the quarter could meet. Incirano never had a place like this before. In fact the parish church square is very little.
In fact, they added this base around the tower to use it as stage during public events
Previous city administration made this and others square to encourage meetings between people
As many people say Paderno Dugnano is a suburb without social life previous City Administration reacted this way
