While Africa proceeds ahead,
Madrid hosts a wonderful concert
Ten years ago, for the canonization of
St. Josemaria Escrivá de Balaguer,
Harambee was founded.
An international project of solidarity
that promotes educational initiatives in Africa
and on Africa.
The first 10 years of this audacious anniversary
will be celebrated at the National Auditorium of Music
in the presence of a young orchestra director,
Imma Shara,
a young and talented woman
acting on behalf of a continent
that needs actions and not words.
For me, professional freedom is music
and personal freedom is Africa.
I feel the need
to go each year.
I traveled though Africa
for many reasons: solidarity,
my career and for
personal matters.
For me, Africa
represents the happiness of life.
I can't say it enough, Africa is personal freedom for me.
And Africa needs
all of our efforts.
We mustn't forget
that the origins of music
lie in Africa and music for them
is a form of communication,
expression,
and hope.
In my opinion, music is a universal language par excellence.
Through music,
not only the spirit is nourished,
but also the mind.
Imma Shara is the woman
who has made herself responsible for
African women who are
emarginalized.
We need to support them
until they are able to take charge
of their own destinies.
We need to help them
create
and cultivate their own identies.
With effort, we need
to identify ourselves in their project,
within their culture,
all while showing respect for their culture and their identity,
but also offering the resources needed
to carry out the projects.
Imma Shara represents the discrete beauty of a job well done
converted into music,
an honorable ambassador of Harambee,
an united orchestra of hope for Africa.
I see the transparency and hope that Harambee
puts
into its effort for Africa,
for this continent.
In reality, all these values are reasons why I identify myself with Harambee.
I would also like to congratulate Harambee
for its ten years
of existence and all the effort,
transparency and
generosity they work with,
with a philosophy, with a code of ethics and of truth
that I admire
because even I
was raised with this same education and I believe
very firmly that these are the values necessary
to create a better society.
Furthermore, as a person, one feels more appreciated.
We need to act as if
we were all an orchestra.
We need to work so that we are a symphony that is perfectly balanced,
a great opera,
or rather, the compromise between human beings
from different countries.
I am very grateful to the
Atlético de Madrid Foundation, for its great sensitivity,
culture, and in this case, music.
While Madrid delights in the art of a symphony,
Africa proceeds forward,
Harambee does not forget,
it's there, very close,
making an effort for Africa
and for the Africans committed to going on
as a team.
There are many goals in ten years.
