Do you remember Al Bundy’s constantly ***, runtish son in “Married… With Children”?
David Faustino who played Bud Bundy developed a new serial for the Internet. Today we are
his guests in his house in Los Angeles.
The child actor David Faustino had to make the same experience as many of his predecessors:
After the productions of the sitcom were stopped 11 years ago he disappeared in the woodwork
of the endless spheres of Hollywood. The only way he hit the headlines was with alcohol
and drug excesses.
But he pulled himself together and started his comeback on his own with a self-produced
show on the Internet with the ambivalent name “star-ving”
“ I created the idea because we had been working on a bunch of ideas for a few years
and tried to sell them to the broadcaster but always failed miserably. That is really
frustrating.”
Because nobody wants to engage him for a television or cinema film he tries his luck on the Internet.
„The Internet has been a fabulous venue for us because we have so much creative freedom
and can do whatever we want. “STAR-VING” is way too provocative to
be broadcast on TV.”
That’s no wonder because he is pulling the envelope of bad taste
Most the time you see him walking around naked or in dirty underpants, pulling his own leg.
“We are basically playing the worst of ourselves. I play a silly ex-teen star who has missed
the boat, is addicted to sex and alcohol but plans his comeback.
We make fun of everybody and everything and mess around with the Hollywood Industry by
using nasty “toilet humour”: Everything is totally exaggerated but that
makes it so funny.”
David Faustino also succeeded in bringing together the stars of “Married… With Children”
for one of his “star-ving” episodes.
“This is the first time in ten years that Ed O’Neill, Katey Sagal, Christina Applegate
and I have all acted together. We keep in touch but see each other very rarely.
The fact that his ex-colleagues succeed in business whereas he doesn’t get a job as
an actor doesn’t surprise him: “I definitely had some struggling after the show ended.
I behaved like a diva and had many fights with my inner demons. But I learned something
new. Star-ving isn’t just a comeback attempt
for me, it’s like a personal therapy”
