It was a big day on capitol hill today with senator saying “yes” during a test vote
on the extension of the bush tax cuts. And it's a move many have been anxiously
awaiting obviously because of the possibility of taxes going up as early as new years,
but we still have to wait for the final vote expected later this week. Many democrats have criticized
the compromise between President Obama and Republicans. But Senator Reid is still applauding
the move and what it will mean for Nevadans.
New tonight: Senator Reid says the bill will help struggling middle class families, small businesses
and the unemployed.
And that's because it will reduce payroll taxes by 120- billion dollars.
Extend unemployment benefits for another 13-months and extend the opportunity tax credit
for families paying college tuition
along with the child tax credit and earned income tax-credit. As for businesses
it'll deduct 100% of certain investments in the first year and extend sales
tax deductions at both the state and local levels and
extend import incentives for Nevadans developing
clean energy industry
