Hi - this is Rachel - and this is Kendra - and you're watching This Week in TV. Today, we
have a wealth of scheduling - lots of summer finales this week - and then it's officially
time for the Fall TV Preview to begin with a look at the CW's new roster. First, Kendra,
what's on?
K: Well Rachel, on Monday, Secret Life of The American Teenager has its mid-season finale
on ABC Family at 8pm, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills has its season premiere on
Bravo at 9, and The Glades has its season finale on A&E at 10. On Tuesday, Sons of Anarchy
has its season premiere at 10pm on FX, on ABC, Take the Money and Run and Combat Hospital
have their season finales, then The Rachel Zoe Project has its season premiere on Bravo
at 10. On Wednesday, Rescue Me has its series finale on FX a t 10pm.
R: On Thursday we have a bunch of season finales including Futurama, Rookie Blue, Wilfred,
Louie, Suits and the mid season finale of Burn Notice. On Friday we have the finale
of Torchwood: Miracle Day on Starz and on Sunday, September 11th we also have a bunch
of HBO finales: True Blood, Curb Your Enthusiasm and the series finale of Entourage. Also,
as it is the 10th anniversary of September 11th there are many special presentations
and memorials including 9/11: 10 Years Later on CBS and America Remembers 9/11 on PBS.
Finally, Monday, the day after True Blood's finale will bring us the 1st season finale
of SideReel's original webseries, Fang in There Bro.
R: We can hardly believe it, but some new fall series - specifically, on The CW - are
beginning to make their debuts as early as next week. Kendra and I want you to be prepared
and to start tracking the ones that interest you now. We're here to help with a rundown
of The CW's 4 new fall shows. Kendra?
K: If you like The CW's Vampire Diaries, The Secret Circle will be your new favorite show.
It's witches instead of vampires in this one, throw in a little love for Eastwick and this
season of True Blood, and this show's definitely for you. Secret Circle is from the same book
author as Vampire Diaries, L.J. Smith, so expect a similar style of plot, characters,
and hopefully addictiveness as well! It also has the nice CW tie-in of starring Life Unexpected's
Britt Robertson. The Secret Circle premieres September 15th.
As for The CW newbie Hart of Dixie, if you like medical dramas like Grey's Anatomy but
would prefer they cut down a little bit on the hyped-up drama plus blood and gore, this
is your show. I'd consider this one more of the old WB's Everwood for young adults with
a dash or USA's Royal Pains. And of course with the show starring The O.C.'s Rachel Bilson
plus Friday Night Lights' Scott Porter, fans of both of them should tune in as well. Hart
of Dixie premieres September 26th.
R: The first CW debut and perhaps the most anticipated is Ringer, featuring Sarah Michelle
Gellar in her return to television. Ringer premieres on September 13th and features Gellar
in a dual role. After witnessing a ***, a girl assumes her wealthy twin sisters' identity
only to learn that her sister also leads a dangerous and complicated life. Sound like
ABC Family's The Lying Game? Yes, yes it does, so if you're enjoying that show it's probably
a safe bet that you'll like Ringer too.
Lastly, we have the CW's one new fall reality show h8r - yes, it has an 8 in the title - which
features celebrities confronting their haters. I can't really in good conscience recommend
this to anyone, unless you're a huge fan of the celebrities being featured - including
Jersey Shore's Snooki and Kim Kardashian - or if you're a big fan of host Mario Lopez.
K: That's it for this week, stay tuned to our Facebook and Twitter for more TV news
and buzz.
R: See you next week!
