Hi, this is Jon and in this clip we'll be dry fitting our door. Now before we go any
further we want to dry fit our new door into our existing opening, just to make sure all
of the measurements are correct and that it fits properly. What you want to do is position it a little
bit in front of our opening, and then we're just going to walk it back into our opening.
Now as it sits in there it looks pretty good, however there is a couple thing we're going
to adjust. If you recall from the old door, there was a board down on the concrete and
the door sat on that board raising it up. Now, I haven't removed that board, and as
I installed my new door, the board raises this door up also. Now that can be a problem
because we do have a few gaps underneath the door now. If you recall, the previous door
was just filled with some spray foam insulation and that filled the gap so now animals or
air would get into the house. However, I don't really like that option, so what we're going
to do is remove the board underneath the threshold so that our door sits on the concrete. Now,
fortunately my concrete does slope away from my door so that I'm not going to worry about
any water getting in. In addition that threshold is going to help keep the water out also.
Now to remove this I'm just going to use a flathead screwdriver and a hammer. And start
to pry up some of these boards.
And then you'll want to remove any nails that might have been holding that board down. And
we're just going to want to vacuum all this out also. Now as I set it in place it looks
much nicer, I'm going to have less air coming through there, and hopefully no animals also.
