Two Czechs Ivan Buchta and Martin Pezlar
have been detained in Greece for four months.
So far all attempts to get them released:
a letter from President Václav Klaus,
intercession from the prime minister and the ministry of foreign affairs
had no result.
Their families now in response prepare an informational campaign
in support of the detained young men.
The Greek police has arrested the two Czechs
in September because of their photographing on the island of Lemnos.
Behind these walls, Ivan Buchta and Martin Pezlar await the decision
of Greek authorities who have accused them of espionage.
Thousands of kilometers away
their relatives have been hoping for a happy resolution for months.
They really want to return home and continue their normal lives.
[Ivan] often says this is a part of his life he'd really like to forget.
There were no Christmas celebrations in the Buchta family this year.
There was no point to without their son.
Instead of presents, they were waiting for a phone call.
We chatted a bit,
I think it was pretty hard for them there to survive the holidays.
The family and friends of the detained want to bring attention
to the case of by a one-off campaign.
They will be handing out informational pamphlets all over the country.
There will be friends or volunteers in stands,
they will hand out these buttons.
Four months without a single result.
Ivan Buchta's father partially blames the Czech government for the lack of results.
In my opinion, the reaction of the foreign ministry was late and it was weak.
We have used all available diplomatic options to help the detained Czechs.
A development in the case could be achieved by the second appeal
that currently awaits the decision of the Greek authorities.
I estimate a decision will be made in January
maybe mid February at most.
The ministry of foreign affairs and the families of Martin Pezlar and Ivan Buchta
still hope the young men will be able to return home.
At this time, nobody wants to speculate when that could happen though.
