Tomas: Hey I'm back! Tomas Michaud with Basic Guitar Chords Lesson No. 3. If you haven't
watched 1 and 2 I encourage you to go back. There's' some good stuff there.
In this video we're going to go through some more chords including the B minor chord, your
first four-note chord. Get your guitar in hand, put on your seat belt and let's rock
and roll! We're going to start off with the A chord;
three-finger chord, the first five strings. Put your first finger on the fourth string,
second fret. Second finger right next to it, second fret also, and third finger right next
to it; now I'm on the second string, second fret.
Go ahead and play it. Try it with me. First finger, fourth finger, second fret. Second
finger, second fret, third string, and third finger right next to it. You'll need to angle
your hand a little bit to get them all in there. A major
going on to E major. This one's really easy. Make that E minor chord that I showed you
before. Now make the A minor chord; we do that in Lesson 2.
Quick review. A minor, E minor now. A minor, E minor. Okay now for the E major. You take
your E minor, got your fingers there? Put your first finger down on the third strings,
first fret, that's E major. E minor take the first finger off, E major put the first finger
on. You'll notice it's the same shape as the A
minor, move all the fingers over one string to the A minor and then move them over again
to the E minor. Don't get those two mixed up! I'm sorry E major, ha! I said it again.
Almost fooled you, huh? Okay, E major. First finger, third string,
first fret. I'm going to my third finger on the fourth string, second fret and my second
finger on the second fret, fifth string. Good! You've got it.
The B minor chord is your first four note chord. Take a look. Start with your A minor,
now move everything up two frets. You see that? That's B minor; except for we need something,
a finger on the first string. So what I'm going to do is move all of my fingers over
to get my first string free. I'm using my pinkie now and put my first finger on the
first string, second fret. B minor. So now let's make it, one note at a time.
First finger, second fret, first string. You're going to do your second finger on the third
fret, second string. The pinkie goes right there on the third string, fourth fret and
my third finger right next to it on the fourth string, fourth fret. B minor. Good! It's a
good one! Now let's do a quick exercise to help you
change those chords. We're going to do it nice and slow, two strums each starting with
A. Then we're going to go B minor. Back to A. Then to E, and back to A. Starting with
A. Here we go. Ready! Strum A. B minor, I'm going for four
strings there. Back to A, five strings, and E all six strings. A, B minor, A and back
to E. A, B minor, A and E. Good job! So that's it for this Video Lesson 3.
