Hi!
We play with a relatively small mouthpiece on the horn,
on a considerable wide range!
Usually horn players push the jaw forward for the low range.
doing a ugly face!
There is one exercise I like to do for practicing the jaw movement,
that consists on playing 2 alternated harmonic series.
In this case I'll start with F horn,
and Eb horn.
a 2nd variation for this exercise including the low C
and a 3rd variation,
alternating the low notes order...
middle C,
low C
and only then the G
this exercise can be done symmetrically...
starting on E horn instead of F horn...
and D horn instead on Eb horn...
and continuing always symmetrically...
Eb horn
and Db...
then D horn
and C horn.
and finally...
Db horn and B horn.
This exercise can also be done starting on Bb horn,
using the F horn fingering.
At the beginning this exercise is somewhat "ungrateful",
so I recommend you to start on a slow tempo,
but by practicing it daily,
can truly help you to control the jaw movement.
