It must be something we have to do together
Which this place where muslim are the majority
They already have spiritual strength in Islam But unfortunately they do not have a educator/instructor with them
What we can see, the condition of people of Sabah are far left behind
From perspective of knowledge, their basic needs, welfare and life difficulties.
We have great response from a forum we organised in a mid/high class residence
but unfortunately the respond was poor in a lower class residence such as village in the same area.
We have to cancel our fajr lecture at the mosque due to poor attendance, only the Imam and a few elder people in the mosque.
What we can see, younger generations are not interested to attend lectures in mosque.
What we can see, younger generations are not interested to attend lectures in mosque.
This is the role for all islamic missionaries and NGOs who have awareness to this matters.
to take a drastic measures to strengthen the missionary movement in Sabah and the movement should be move consistently.
This measures needs sufficent power, funds and human resources. It is not a "touch n' go" mission.
All praise to Allah, we have improved our mission with new expertise from other NGOs.
Muslim Care provides humanitarian services, PAPISMA provides medical expertise for health needs, dental health (Nisa' Malaysia), khitan (circumcision) and general consultations.
Our aims to provides health services.
at first we expected that respond from the villagers are poor, but out from our expactations, the respond was excellent. Reception from mobile clinic was great.
The majority of our patients was children.
Lack from our side was medical supplies.
We have an issue to provide sufficient medicines for all health problems occurred here.
From our observation, children in this village have a general health problems such as; nutrition disorder: flu, fever, mild infection, skin problems etc.
With a low level of socioeconomic status, they can't afford to get a proper health care and treatments especially on the mainland (2 hours boat).
Our hope is to improved our service in the future for this village.
Its out of our expectation that this mission is involved by two medical specialists and many medical officers.
All praises to Allah who facilitate the mission because of engagement of all the sincere, whole-hearted missionaries.
Because lacking of a clinic in this island, most of the children does not have immunation, adults does not have health screening for diabetis, hypertension, contagious disease and skin infections.
All of them did not have proper treatments.
This is a very good step for us to provides them a better health services.
All praise to Allah that we, from PAPISMA consisting of 10 medical officers have succeed in performing circumcision involving 40 person most of them is children under 12 years old.
Interestingly, we received adults for performing the circumcision, approx 6-7 pax.
Refering from the information we gathered, this is the second circumcision from the adults, because of improper method of circumcision they perform for the first time.
Possibility of traditional technics of the surgery involved resulting discomfort.
This a very sweet experience to us, because we are inexperience in this type of case.
This a very sweet experience to us, because we are inexperience in this type of case.
However, with the speciality we have, we succeed in aiding them to perform the surgery.
I represent PAPISMA to honor Muslim Care Malaysia and other NGOs, that i think provides great benefits.
I hope after this, this kind of mission must be continued to give exposure to local peoples and to give experience to us PAPISMA and other medical practitioners who have interest in this kind of voluntary mission.
Pulau Mabul is an island located 2 hours from Semporna, Sabah.
Its a tourist attraction island especially among scuba divers.
This is the only attractions in this island.
Beyond the attraction, there is a village that occupied by 3000-4000 Muslims which most of them are immigrants from Philippines.
and few are locals Malaysian.
Muslim Care Malaysia brought public donations and Zakat (alms) here.
We provide them with general needs such as sugar, noodles, coffee, tea, sweetened creamer etc.
For alms, we provide them rice.
We distribute these supplies to 100 families in the island.
This also includes families who lives on the water, the Bajau Laut aboriginals.
All praise to Allah we already provides them with the supplies, and we can see happiness to their eyes when they received something that is little to us, but very great to them.
This indirectly will convey our Islamic message to them which most of them are lack of Islamic knowledge.
We are planning to continue this mission from time to time, and we seek contributions from people out there to consistently contribute to them through us.
5 of us from Nisa' Malaysia NGO was assigned to 1: Dental Mobile Clinic, 2: Prepare supplies to the needs.
All praises to Allah we successfully examine around 100 children, and we conclude that dental health in this island are far from improvements.
If we have a proper equipment, we can provide better service and treatment to raise awareness to children and their parents.
We are very pleased to have this opportunity together with Muslim Care to provide donations to the needs.
The villagers especially children are very happy to received us and other NGOs.
Hopefully what we provide them will give profound impact in their heart and that they are closer to Islam.
We hope for the continuity of this mission and in the future can reach more places.
When we get here, there is some obstacles that we haven't foresee before the plan. It turn out to be that our plan didn't go well.
All praises to Allah with the aid from other people, it went on smoothly.
Basically, this is our first mission, we try to help others such as medical programs.
We happy with the result even this is our first time participating, to be given an opportunity.
What we can see, children in this island, even though they are far from modernisation, they have potential to succeed, they have a good sense of Islam in their heart.
So they need us who have knowledge to guide them here.
6 of us arrived in Pulau Mabul, who participated in program such as Islamic medication, Smart Solat program (smart prayers).
All praises to Allah, for 2 days we are here, we found out that their cemetery, have so many fake superstition culture.
They put on their grave a feeding bottle, fishing nets, they wrap their tombstone with a turban cloth.
This makes me wonder what happened here?
We who have knowledge of Islam, needs to change this false culture to a better Islamic teaching culture.
Most of the locals are fishermen. When they lives as a fishermen, their faith are refering from ancestral customs and culture.
And resulting that the children even they are Muslims can not recite syahadah properly.
Even with the teenagers and adults, still can't recite syahadah and Al-Quran properly.
We can say that this island is still back dated like on 1960s era.
Hopefully in the future, we can organised this kind of mission.
We wish to express sincere gratitude to all of them and hope Allah to received our deeds.
