Wildlife in Europe is coming back.
Because Europeans have allowed it to.
But wildlife numbers are still extremely low.
And we are still losing wilderness and biodiversity.
The countryside in Europe is being abandoned.
About 30 million hectares will be abandoned by 2030.
An enormous problem.
That can be turned into a huge opportunity.
For man and nature.
This is the time to make Europe a wilder place!
With wilder forests.
Wilder wetlands.
And wilder open landscapes.
Half of Europe's biodiversity is connected to the open landscapes.
Once kept open by wild grazers, which are now almost gone.
We want to bring them back, in good numbers.
Bison.
Chamois.
Red deer.
Wild horse.
Aurochs.
We aim to rewild at least 1 million hectares by 2020.
Starting in five places...
Western Iberia, Danube delta, Eastern Carpathians, Southern Carpathians, Velebit
...with the goal to create 10 large wildlife areas of top international quality.
Where nature takes care of itself.
So that Europeans can enjoy wild nature again.
The Serengetis and Yellowstones of Europe.
Wilderness and wildlife are becoming very valuable.
Rewilding means business, jobs and income.
We intend to prove the business case for the wild.
And we will tell hundreds of millions of Europeans about the rewilding of Europe.
Let's make Europe a wilder place!
