Hi, I'm Abtin, I'm the executive editor-in-chief of Juxta.
Hi, I'm Gale, I'm a section editor.
I'm Elizabeth, I'm the publicity co-director and webmaster.
And I'm Salem, I'm a sponsorship co-director.
And we are from Juxtaposition Global Health Magazine.
So we are, uh, U of T's Global Health Magazine.
We publish two issues every year, and in our publications
we try to juxtapose different ideas in global health
and have an interdisciplinary approach to global health.
This year we also started hosting Canada's first Global Health
case competition for undergraduate students.
We think of it as a global health map.
It brings in students from multiple disciplines and they get
to work on a global health case and find a solution for it.
And we call that, Toronto Thinks.
I got involved in third year but I was really interested
in the magazine and I read it throughout all of first year and
second year and I went to the events.
I was really excited to actually join in third year,
but I would recommend anyone who is actually interested
to apply right away because I regret not being part of it
the first two years as well.
I used to be a part of the global health major and then I switched
majors, but to be able to, um, still take a part
in global health education, I joined Juxtaposition,
especially becuase I knew that I would be able to make
a meaningful contribution.
Well pretty much, I decided to change my whole academic career
from Juxtaposition.
I came here with the idea of doing architecture, and I just didn't fit in,
and you know getting involved with Juxtaposition,
being on campus, seeing what really fits, what really works for me
and that was global health.
And I'm really grateful for the club to really open up my eyes
to new opportunities.
It has completely changed all my skills.
I was unable to edit and now I'm the executive editor-in-chief of Juxta
and I learned a lot in that process.
I became really familiar with a lot of marketing skills,
editing skills, and my communication skills
have completely transformed.
And English is my second language, and it was due to Juxta
that I can now speak it like a native, and write much better
than I could before.
If we were to describe Juxtaposition in three words,
it would be
multidisciplinary, global, community.
