>> ANNOUNCER: Now 13WHAM sports.
>> ANCHOR: Jared DeMichiel made the Frozen Four against a bunch of college hockey players
who were on scholarships. The ESPN guys asked DeMichiel about that. He said, "I go to RIT.
There are no sports scholarships." Some day, he said, I hope to get paid to play. Well
that day is here. The Tigers goaltender agreed on a contract with the American Hockey League's
Hershey Bears. He'll get his chance to make a name in pro hockey and he says the success
in leading the Tigers so far can help him in the future.
>> JARED DeMICHIEL: Going to the Frozen Four definitely got the players, the whole entire
team, a lot more looks than I think we would have been given before going to the Frozen
Four. Some players were invited to NHL prospect camps this summer. I lot of us are starting
to shine deals now. Where I think teams might have thought twice about signing with us,
teams are a little bit more eager, more willing to give us a chance to develop into their
pro systems.
>> ANCHOR: Yeah, that system is working at RIT. So far now DeMichiel going to the AHL
in Hershey. Dan Ringwald to the AHL in Hartford. And Chris Tanev has signed an NHL contract
with the Vancouver Canucks organization. Big news for RIT.
