Record wildfire burns on Spanish island. More than 1,500 hectares of land has been consumed
since Wednesday, May 25 by the biggest wildfire in recorded history on the island of Ibiza
in Spain. The blazes, fanned by strong winds, spread quickly, prompting the evacuation of
around 400 people from 80 homes and a hotel. As many as 300 firefighters are battling the
flames with the aid of 11 helicopters and planes. So far, no injuries have been reported.
Our grateful thanks, firefighting personnel risking their lives to extinguish the blaze
and ensure the safety of others. May we all join in greater kindness to restore the security
of animals and humans alike on our shared planetary home
