It's 2013
Everyone's heard about AIDS
about cancer
But how many have heard about the Cleft?
It's the reason millions of children spend their lives in hiding,
Hiding behind their mothers,
hiding behind their toys,
hiding from everyone's eyes,
A life threatening facial deformity that brings pain, hardship and ridicule.
One in ten will die before their 1st Birthday.
But there is hope.
A simple 45 minute surgery can bring a smile back to their lives
Yet, most people know nothing about the cleft
And for many
treatment is unaffordable
Overlooked by corporations and foundations
the cleft gets left out every year
Only mass awareness can change this.
If millions show they care
decision makers will listen.
Operation Smile India,
a charity that provides free cleft treatment
has a plan to do just that with the logo
For the cause, for the change. The cleft to smile.
And it isn't just any logo, It's a logo anyone can create and share to simply tell people about the cause
So let's spread awareness
by making it the world's most tweeted logo :{to:)
With a goal to reach one million tweets by April 30th
in the weeks around World Heath Day
when corporations, foundations and policy makers are listening hard.
With one million tweets our voices will be loud enough to get headlines,
conversations and action
to make sure the cleft doesn't get left out yet again.
So start tweeting :{to:)
To make sure it counts simply add #CleftToSmile
Tell all your friends around the world,
ask your favorite celebrities to tweet as well.
Spread the word in every way possible
Tweet :{to:) by itself or simply at the end of any regular tweet
If you're not on twitter,
you can still help by sharing this video
