Hi, this is Cristina from the Search Quality Team in Google, and today we will
talk about a suggestion that Rasec from Madrid sent us: "Mobile Web: indexing, positioning
and new trends for developing mobile sites". Well, this is a big question, so today we
will only focus on some aspects regarding mobile sites. Regarding the development of
mobile sites, I'm just going to provide you with the following URL, so that you can check
additional information there. Regarding mobile web search, we need to take into account the
main difference between classic web search and mobile web search. Classic web search
will allow you to search for any content in our index, any content that is available there.
Mobile web search will allow you to search specifically for content that is designed
for mobile devices that do not have all the features of a regular browser.
This is the reason why it is so important that
GooglebotMobile, our crawler for mobile content, detect your site. In order to know whether
your site is indexed, we always recommend that, using the mobile web search, you perform
a search of your site with the site: operator. When creating a mobile website, different
types of documents and formats can be used, so this may cause issues on your site. So
we always recommend that you carry different tests in different mobile devices, to make
sure everything is in order. Once you are sure that everything works just fine, we will
also ask you to take into account how Googlebot sees your mobile site. As we said before,
if your site does not appear indexed with the site: search, we'll recommend that you
create a sitemap for mobile content. The following URL in the Webmaster Tools page has a lot
of information you can check. To ensure you Googlebot-Mobile can crawl you site, we recommend
that you always allow access to any user-agent to your mobile website. I also wanted to remind
you that, in Webmaster Tools, there is an option called Fetch as Googlebot Mobile. This
option allows you to see how our mobile robot sees your content. You'll be able to detect
any possible issues, this option will be very useful. And last but not least, I wish you
all the best with your mobile website. See you soon!
