Hello and welcome to My Weekly Geekery, a hopefully weekly show in which I
talk about my geeky world over the past seven days.
Top story today is that a new Doctor has been chosen for Doctor Who.Hhe was
announced
in a live broadcast on BBC1
at the weekend and his name is
SPOILERS: Peter Capaldi. Peter Capaldi is one of my favorite actors so I am really excited
about this casting and I cannot wait to see what he does with the role.
He is seriously an outstanding actor, he can be both heartbreaking
and hilarious and I
do believe that the role and the show are in safe hands with him
at the TARDIS console. If you are a bit mmmm
about this casting then
just wait, just wait until
his first few episodes have aired before you judge him too harshly
because given the chance he will grab your heart and pull it out of your chest and
hold it in front of you and say
'This is mine now.' Anyway, in other Doctor Who news
the Doctor Who Prom which was at the Royal Albert Hall last month has now got
an airdate in the UK and that airdate is
August 26th, which is the bank holiday. I was
at the Prom at the Royal Albert Hall, I queued for 14 hours and was in the front row
so I'm looking forward to seeing it on the TV, although I'm not actually going to be able to
see it on August 26th because on August 26 I'm at the Royal Albert Hall to see a prom.
In not Doctor Who news, YouTube, the site on which we find ourselves
is midway through Geek Week. It's had a Comedy Week
but this is different, this is more
geeky. So far I'm liking it.
I'm preferring it to Comedy Week. Some of the videos for Geek Week have been really good
and some of the Easter Eggs, I've been enjoying so
yes, all good, all good. Pottermore,
the online interactive Harry Potter experience has
just had an update. The final chapters of Prisoner of Azkaban have been
added
and the whole site has had a big revamp. I'm a fan
of this revamp. It took me a while to get used to it, I didn't like it at first but now I am used to it
I'm happy with it. Heads up to people who have already done the past couple of books
like me
There are some new moments in those books
and also some new items to collect so
if you have ALL OF THE TIME I would suggest going back over those
to see what you can find. Vidcon,
the online video conference in California was last weekend
and was bigger and better than ever before. I wasn't there.
Comicon and LeakyCon were a bit before that. I wasn't there.
LeakyCon London is this weekend in Covent Garden.
I'm not going to be there. And Summer in the City, the major UK
YouTube gathering is on August 17th
and 18th at 'Ally Pally', Alexandra Palace, in London. I'm not going to be there.
Pretty much when I haven't been fangirling over
Peter Capaldi my main emotions have been sadness
and frustration at not being where all of the awesome is.
In Quiet as Mouse news I finished a script this week for a new short film
which I should hopefully be filming in the next couple of weeks so look out for
that.
Also on Friday I'm going to Shakespeare's Globe in London to see
a Midnight Matinee of The Tempest.
A Midnight Matinee is, well,
it's pretty self-explanatory but it's a show that starts at midnight.
That's going to be really fun, it's my first Midnight Matinee so I'm really looking
forward to it
But that's enough about me. So in conclusion:
Doctor Who has a new Doctor; the Doctor Who Prom has an airdate in the UK; YouTube has
a Geek Week, Pottermore has an update and Summer in the City does not have me.
This has been My Weekly Geekery.
