Hi, My names Tyler I work for Home Pro's Fort McMurray's duct cleaning division, and today
we'll be going over the Duct and Furnace cleaning service available from Home Pros.
After booking your appointment, a duct-cleaning technician will come to your house at the
scheduled time and confirm the pricing and procedure with the homeowner if available.
The technician will then locate the furnace, test it, and if everything looks good turn
it off, and begin to work.
We cut two 8" access holes as well as a few 1" holes on the supply and return plenums
and place a catch pad over the heat exchange to isolate the airflow and help stop heavier
debris from flowing into the rest of the system during the clean.
The tech then tapes the vents throughout the house, hot air and return with H-Vac Tape.
Our tape leaves no residue so it can be used in all areas of the residence without worry.
Most companies will use magnets to cover the vents, but we find that by taping the vent
it ensures that there's no loss of suction, which helps to remove larger debris from the
vents.
The technicians then set up drop sheets and corner guards to ensure the house stays clean and
tidy.
Bringing in the rest of our gear, the technician then attaches the vacuum to the 8" holes cut
earlier and begin working on the system.
Starting from the top floor, we remove the tape from the vent and use an air-powered
tool called a "viper" to knock and blast the dust and debris down the duct into the vacuum.
Some companies use harsh chemicals to clean inside the vents, but we found through extensive
testing that the right amount of suction combined with the air pressure created with the viper,
we can offer a superior clean without the health concerns of chemicals in the air.
Home pros does offer a environmentally friendly disinfectant that can be applied after the
initial clean to kill mold.
Next, we use the 1" holes in the basement to clean the main trunk lines.
Focusing on the furnace, we use a lighter air pressure to remove built up dust as to
not damage any sensitive components inside. It's important to clean the fan and the motor
to ensure dust no longer continues to circulate throughout the house. If there's AC we also
clean the coils with light air pressure.
After completed, we seal the access panels which can then be reused during Home Pros
next visit.
