the Michigan Association of Broadcasters named MHTV and News Central
Television Station of the Year. Our Leadership Safari program stands out
among Michigan colleges and universities as one of the unique and
diverse experiences for our freshmen

A new research vessel, The Chippewa, has greatly enhanced our ability to do
research on the Great Lakes

sweeping the Michigan Press Association's Photographer of the Year
winning first second and third-place. We have the only
undergraduate meteorology program in the state of Michigan

and several are meteorologists on television stations
in Michigan around the world. According to US News and World Report's
our Global Campus is ranked third in the nation in student engagement and online graduate online
program delivery
The Political Science Department partners with the Washington Center
to offer over a dozen internships
in DC every year. Automation Alley recently recognized our new venture
competition
as the Michigan education program of the year. The debate team won a hundred and
nine individual event awards
including two state championships. Our Volunteer Center's Alternative Break
program continues to rank in the top five nationally
The College of Health Professions residential college provides 10,000
hours of community service
every year. The Philosophy and Religion Department help to sponsor a major
world conference on peace this year. They participated in a centenary
at the Peace Palace as well as sent students and faculty
to represent Central Michigan University. Our east campus practices
are making a huge difference in improving the quality of care and access
to care in the Great Lakes Bay region
This summer our Upward Bound Program brought students from the Detroit area. They
parted with faculty and students here on campus
to learn science, math and all kinds a college curriculum. In a recent survey
of over 250 colleges and universities across the nation, CMU's Residence Life
program continues to outshine
all others in all categories
