Hi I'm Karen with the Office of Personnel Management. I'd like to talk to you about
what happens when your resume is sent to the hiring official.
If you've been notified that your application has been referred to the hiring official,
it means you are among the highest qualified for the position.
Keep in mind, many highly qualified applicants apply for Federal jobs and competition is
very high.
The hiring official reviews the resumes and may conduct interviews to further evaluate
candidates. Hiring officials may interview some or all of the candidates or, may make
a selection without conducting an interview.
If you get called for an interview, you can prepare by carefully reviewing the job posting,
paying close attention to the job requirements, major duties and responsibilities, and by
reviewing your résumé one more time.
Good luck in your job search.
