Hi.
My name is Marni Dunning and I'm an instructional
technologist here at Minnesota State University Mankato.
In this tutorial, I'm going to show you how to check your
credentials, which is your username and password that is
associated with your tech ID here at Minnesota State
University Mankato.
So this is really helpful if you're a new adjunct faculty
or a new student coming in.
So the first thing you'll want to do is open up a browser
window and type in mnsu.edu.
So mnsu.edu and press Enter.
It'll take you to our home page.
From here, there's a couple ways to check.
You can either log into your email or you can log in D2L.
So down at the bottom underneath Campus Services,
you're going to have a link for your email and a little
bit further down you're going to have one for Desire To
Learn, which is D2L.
So I'm going to go ahead and click on the email one here.
And here, you can put in your campus user ID.
Now this is your last name, the first five initials of
your last name.
If you have less than five, it's just that many initials
of your last name.
And your first initial of your first name.
So mine, I'm Marni Dunning, my username is Dunnim.
D-U-N-N-I-M. OK?
Now my password is whatever I set it to.
Now this is when you activated your account.
You put in your tech ID, you put in your tech ID password,
and then you change your password for the system.
If you've never done this, I'm going to walk you through that
process next.
But if you know your password, you can go ahead
and type it in there.
And if you're able to get into email or D2L,
you are good to go.
If you are not able to get into these, maybe you forgot
your password, maybe it isn't set up yet, the next step then
would be to change your password
forwarding options here.
This is located underneath our MavMail link
And if I'm under Desire2Learn, and I can't get logged
in, down here, where it says look up your campus username
and password is where you'd want to click.
So if you can't get in to D2L or MavMAIL, then you'll want
to click on this look up your campus user ID and password.
Now this is to set up your username and password for your
entire campus here for all the different systems.
So what you need to do is put in your tech ID.
Now this is located on your badge and this is
confidential.
So I'm going to blur this out.
But I'm going to go ahead and type in my badge number here.
And then I want to put in my tech ID password.
Now my tech ID password I may have changed it.
If you don't remember what it is, you can contact the
registration help desk over here at 507-389-2252.
If you think you remember it or maybe you didn't change it,
a hint for you it's your date of birth in six digits, the
last two of your year, the two of your month, and then the
two of your day.
So it should be year year, month month, day day.
So I'm going to go ahead and type in mine.
Year year, month month, day day.
As soon as I type that in, I'm going to click on Login.
And it takes me to my campus information.
If I'm not able to get logged in, then I'm going to want to
call the registration help desk and have
them reset my password.
Once you get in, you'll see your campus user ID here.
Mine is grayed out or blurred out.
My official email and my library barcode.
I have some password information and then other
settings that you can forward your email if you want to, you
can put in your cell phone number for a star alert, other
information set in here.
I want to change my campus password.
So I want to go ahead and click on
Change Campus Password.
Now I'm not going to change it in this tutorial, but to
change your password, you have to use these different
categories for changing your password.
So you need a lower case letter.
You need an upper case letter.
You need a number.
You need a special character.
And you need eight characters total.
So those are all the
requirements for your password.
Those will actually gray out as I type in a new password.
OK.
And also, I cannot reuse passwords.
So you'll want to type in your new password and verify your
new password.
It usually takes a couple of minutes for all of the systems
to talk, but then this will be your new password with this
username located up here to get into MavMAIL, MavDISK and
D2L and other systems like ChimeIn, Camtasia
Relay on our campus.
So that's how you'll reset your password.
If you run into any problems as you're going through this,
you'll want to contact the IT department and the phone
number is here for the service desk.
It's 507-389-6654.
Thanks so much.
