this program was brought to you by montana vocational
rehabilitation

and was funded by
the american recovery and reinvestment
what's up, my name is luka
i'm coming to you on behalf of the montana vocational rehabilitation program
minded well
allows people in the evenings
people isn't great
professional greatness
hard-to-find higher spirits than final here
freely with virtually making me feel a
as one of the physical condition carpark program pose this but they need to have
a little muscles in my life don't look at pictures of the crash
repeatedly stop sentencing
this disability
an
has never stopped
for me
completely become that
someone is in no they're working hard to get
graphic
but it doesn't mean that you get
help
and speaking of up
only talked about though
graduating from high school
maybe it's stressful thirty state anyway
yes he stuff a lot of questions
what kind of work like you
who's gonna handy
obligated pay for college
there's someone out there that's willing to help me
may have heard about so many opportunities out there from so many
different people
we just don't know which option is right for you
they're still matrix dot that they can get really confusing
but don't worry folk rehab she helped you
range
br
over the years
i've been asked
i've been bitten by sharks
but then in a car accident
or deferment iraqi war veteran
all for one reason
was born with alex and while it's given me he had a challenge of trying to
figure out what's too with my life and career
more important to it
fifty three minutes well fortune a little bit of focus
hopefully through this interview and this video you'll be able to do this
i learned about the kitchen or rehabilitation through uh... high
schools counselor
uh... they were one of the early ones advising me not only just you know how
to get scholarships and stuff like that outside of rehab
but also you know who to contact and how to get that program started
i was at first not really sure uh...
what what
what book rehab was about
and i think part of that was because it as it was quickly explain to me
really wide expanse program
uh... victim that level of services they offer kinko everywhere from
you know very close counseling and monitoring and helping uniforms for all
of the schools but also um... just kind of trying to guarantee towards an
occupation once you get out of school that was the most valuable thing book we
have offered me
mexicans here former world cup racer and a photographer pitted shot
and over twenty eight countries um... i've had work displayed in inland
mexico's sony in over empty seats on the traveler on an adventure whether i had
writing a book before taking photos or doing any number of other things i'm
usually on some sort of hair bring steamer adventure process
physical disability and
quadriplegic
from uh... spinal cord injury that happened in a
car accident when i was eighteen
the spinal cord injury
left me with paralysis from
my uh... shoulders down here
com no sensation there was some
uh... concern i would say
and baby cynthia and uncertainty obviously a lot of questions
that were about employment
um... someone talk to me about
vocational rehabilitation and so i did met with them and
realize that they could be a resource to me and help me pursue some of the job
rules
i am a podium coordinator here marne k
which it helps homemade montana and achieve technology and then
happily job is the montana's accessed outdoor recreation program which is
apparently wildlife associated recreation program for a moment and with
visible
on mon pere
highly uh... liked aren't all kinds
program or
when i tell people that
they are often pretty
and can't quite imagine
uh... exactly how that
casey
vocational rehabilitation is about helping young people who live with
disabilities transition school into the world at work
it's all about finding out what you enjoy your interest in june july most
followed by your abilities those things that you do well and we bring those two
things together any job kal when we do that we had some magic
jesse jackson
uh... conference in june
broke the story is the home natural thing
i think everybody special right
others there was a time certainly we were pretty unsure
we worry really
we didn't think jesse
had a very strong chance of pension high school
uh... possibility of him
driving a car
pretty prevalent
trout
i think that and he did not complete rehab
is that day so dominantly determines
cartridges sixty continue contacting just doesn't have or your bill for
it was just amazing is that the issues that process
competent
it was like wow this is exactly what you this is the brain
it's the continued consular
into being a little work it's hardly overcome some of these things
somebody steps that they can
well you know when you watch t_v_
and when you read books and when you do you think it's in your life like
there is a very few people with disabilities better for trade in effect
for trade they're not necessarily portrayed in a positive light
and so i think it's important that
the media and hand out
did away from this perfect wife
i was born with weaver's congenital and are obsessed or else he ate
which is like a malfunction with the rights of talents and my retina so
blind since birth
uh... from one side
and uh... one of the blind specialists and by
the test and right about allot of the different blindness equipment we have
here dot org
i don't consider myself like at a disadvantage really another people
i don't just sit around in
wallow in misery uh...
idea speech debate i do theater i'd do creative writing and like national honor
society i don't know i would like people with disabilities to be recognized
there's always a first impression
when you
needs one
when if you take the time to get to know them
or
sue really understand them you get to kill off the land
the depicting princy that person really is
minus the states and i have classical artist
and really
is finally seeing what i wanted to do in life
michael it's the animator
i watched his creates stories that can impact old and young
i want to tell stories that
can't be timeless
meant about people with uh...
neurological disabilities for artist it's that they can
at testify as a normal person may have to stay with their parents of a catholic
on their own which is fairly and cheer
there's also the
that they are disabled people can't get at the college then
tumi after all of my past experiences that's not even
what i consider it
anymore i think that's more joke
i think
next of technology as well as an ever-widening on number of career
options out there
about that
really if you have the interest and
the wants of research and find a position stuff to do so
what's what's at stake university
and by knowing that
just personally speaking i was helping every single step of the way
whether that was the financial a personal guidance or even just someone
showing around campus define the ransom elevators
it's justified i think a lot of ways you have almost a bigger damage then you're
able-bodied here is going to college students
one
i first met with
but they are confirming set down and talked about
what some of my goals were what some of my strength for com
most importantly
my interests were and yeah i'm very satisfied with my job i enjoyed what i
do enjoy people it's rewarding to see
people fulfill their potential
i think uh... takes a village to raise a child
and i think that uh... there's a lot of truth to that
to successfully company individual
rolled in the ways that they need to grow and i believe that vocational rehab
is com
very important part of the village
adding the biggest
difference between
today i started but we have in the day i got output confidence yes book we have
provided resources to help me go through college fit at the end of the day
most important thing for me
was having you know a guy didn't show you the world trying to get a job once
you have school
what steps chosen your job
folk rehab
fights with the status is unique in order to prepare for
and keep that uh...
some of you may need assistants completing the job application breeding
getting ready for an interview and others may require therapy
so helpful for combat it
and they get in the way
whatever it is that you need to keep the job that is best for you
the area to help them
and as the file
it's free of charge for those who are eligible
judge can range from
high-level executive job
too
jobs related
today civilians were calculated
that don't have anything to do it disability all they could be outdoors on
an daily basis will creat makes an individual where his or her interests
and potential
why it sounds very simple place
in terms of where we are in history
as a person or individual with a disability you could not have found
herself living in a better period every now and then i enjoyed playing video
games and sitting at home being a hermit
but i can't guarantee you that nothing happens
sometimes that's a relaxing day
but nothing happens
and so with that knowledge
h not take advantage of that would be tremendous waste that
you'll really have that many excuses
so i think as a professional performer
i can tell you that
unwittingly this without power
this is what it worked for
and if you can see perhaps he should
displeased
no excuses
buildings
and anything that is the link between differently
the anyone else's world
but i've been doing my homework
just right
manner that they have no excuses
using
so whether you were born with a disability before you come to have a
distinctly has accident
diseases
all instead of going to learn what's like to live with the disability it's
it's not about that much
it's about time speak discomfort that we have far more common that we have
defects
with fifty four million people in the united states with a disability
this is amass massive contingent of people and i guess if there's one thing
that you can certainly take comfort in is that you are most definitely not
alone
the dark side
this
handyman
seat
it's been almost brought to you by the montana location on rehabilitation
program
a partner of montana a new transitions dot org
