Hi I'm Drew Finn here for expertvillage.com we are going to show you how to install garage
door opener today this is being filmed by Black Dog Video you could visit us at blackdogvideo.biz.
We are going to install the brackets to the door that door would open to. Now the bracket
it self is marked which side is up. Pay attention to that kind of stuff. What we decided to
do on this one is we brought carriage bolts that didn't come with it to go all the way
through the door and rather to do a regular nut on it we got a nut that got a locking
mechanism to it. So they are not going to come loose on us or all the vibration of the
door is very common for the bolt particularly have gone through the door to become loose.
So have a locking nut on that. Now we are going to put the bracket on the door. We have
a existing bolt hole pattern from the previous installation we are going to utilize one of
the bolt holes. This bottom one here. So I'm going to use this as a template make sure
that we got the orientation correctly going straight up. I'm going to put a nut on here
just temperately to hold and what we do we would have it in place we would have the bracket
in place.
Use that as a template to mark our holes and then drill them. Now we want to make sure
that and when we do this we get the bracket perfectly perfectly straight up. I have made
little marks on here to make sure that I'm straight up. Okay I snugged that. What we
do we are going to drill a hole. Put a bolt in it. Drill a another hole. You just don't
want to drill all three holes because if we do that and it happens to wonder off then
we got the holes incorrect location. Now we put the bolt through. We put a washer on it
and we are going to put the locking nut on it. Picked up a little bit of a brew when
it went through the door there we go. So after I tap that bolt into this little back of this
aluminum door after that you want to do the same thing. You put your hand on it and we
would rotate and tighten the nut. On this locking nuts once again do it by hand because
it got nylon on there. You want to snug this up because if you don't want to tighten them
to a point that we are bending the door on the outside. So now we got the top in we got
a template down on the bottom. I'm going to drill the two on the side and put bolt through
that and we be ready for the next step.
