My name's Kurt Jensen, I'm a freelance photojournalist in Eugene, Oregon. Currently I work of the
Eugene Weekly. I have worked as a staff photographer for a couple of different publications, couple
of different newspapers. And there have been some difficult days as a staff photographer.
I eluded to this earlier that you have to cover the news whatever it is. Some of my
hardest days have been covering accidents and death. I was working in a small town.
It was a town that was so small that everybody knew each other. And the fire department was
all volunteer. And the ambulance was on the way to an accident, and the ambulance got
in a wreck. And so, it took out, everyone in the ambulance was killed. And so this was
three paramedics and fire fighters from this community. And we didn't know what the accident
was. We just knew that there was an accident, a major accident. And so when I arrived on
the scene and found out what was going on, it was really difficult, you know, you have
to cover it and so, so stuff like that's really difficult as well as of course we follow that
up with the funeral and that stuffs just, it's difficult to cover. But that's part of
the job. And in the end, you know most often the community is very appreciative of what
you do and so that really helps. Yeah, as a staff photographer you have to cover everything
and sometimes that can be very difficult.
