Hi, this tutorial is going to show you how you can put several
sounds into one audio file
for use in your animations with Anime Studio Debut.
As I've mentioned before you can only put
2 audio files into this
"Debut" version of the software so
sometimes you will have to patch together
audio, in order to successfully put together some sound for your
animations
If you have the "Pro" version of Anime Studio, that's
not as much of an issue because you can put as many audio files into
"Pro" as you want. So your assignment is going to be where you have to add
sound and text into
your already existing bouncing ball animation.
Okay. You have a number bounces that you had to create
so we'd like to get sound going for each time
that our little ball hits. So you wanna get a
pencil and paper and make note of every
frame in which you think that a sound should occur
as its hitting. For example this would be frame 19.
It will be different for you ,obviously.
frame 46.
write that down...
frame 76...
and so on. Write those down every time
you think you want to hear some kind of sound as it hits.
now you also want to make note of how many seconds long
your animation is. Of course,
now here on our time line we're looking at a number of total frames.
you can check to see very quickly, if you go up to
edit and preferences, and her, where it says use
SMPTE time code. check that,
and click Okay and then it gives you your total.
All right, I've got 8.08 seconds.
All right, I'll write that down.
Then, since I actually want to
base my information on my frames, I'm going to
go ahead and go back preferences and un-check that SMPTE option
so I continue working with frames only
and not time, for now.
so I'm going to put that scrub back to zero,
and go to my "Audacity" editing program.
The first thing I want to do in Audacity ---
Oh, and by the way, I've got version
2.0.4. Okay hopefully you have a similar version so that your menu information
won't be
very much different than mine.
I want to generate 8.08 seconds worth
of silence.
Choose Generate / Silence, and here
I need to type in... Let's see...
here we've got hours, minutes and seconds,
so 8.08
seconds.There we go.
you can see I've got eight seconds showing
of no sound. The next thing I want to do is
to import the sound clip
that I want to use. File / Import / Audio.
I did provide sounds
for you if you didn't want to have to look for your own free sounds.
there's a folder in
this week's assignments that have a few
bounce sounds if like you you like any of those.
I need to trim the dead space before and after the sound.
So I just click the left mouse button and
click and drag across.
Actually I'm missing a little bit but that's okay. I hit the DELETE
key on the keyboard and again here near the end of it.
and again hit the DELETE key. Okay, that gets rid
unnecessary dead sounds.
Okay. Now before I plug that in,
down here where it says "selection start"
I will choose "Film Frames (24 FPS)"
All right, because as we advance along this
the 8.08 seconds
time frame here, we're going to plug in
our bounce sound for all those
keyframes that we wrote down. mine were 19, 46, 76
123 and so on and yours are going to be different.
So with this sound here
select it, copy it,
My first time that the sound occurs is at
19.
So if I click where I think 19 frames is at, and I did a pretty good
job guessing it,
I got to 20. Now if I use my arrow keys on the keyboard
and I use my left arrow key in this case
then that eventually goes down to
19 frames. I can edit and paste
my sound in, at that point. And if I wanted to
just type in my next one
frame 46... you see that I typed that in.
and edit and paste.
So you want to do that
for all of your key frames where you want the sound to occur
Now, this may likely happen to you:
I just pasted my sound in and when I advance to my next
key frame number
there's actually going to be overlap. I probably need to
shorten my sound.
So we can go over here,
maybe listen to it,
see where you think
there might be a part of it you want to save.
I don't know it's that's a tough call.
Let me just take a part of it
and go ahead and copy that.
Now back up here
to frame 136 down here
and yes they're still going to be overlap with that longer sound.
Let's select it and generate silence and
clean that up. Let me go back to frame 123
paste that shorter sound
Then, frame 136..
and paste...
hopefully I can get the rest of the way through now. If you have to, you can
shorten your sound more until it doesn't overlap.
Okay, I put on my sounds in here
If I'm happy with the results
You definitely need to remove this
by clicking the X here in the upper left corner.
Now save the project before you export the mp3 file.
All right. Choose FILE / EXPORT.
I like mp3's, but you could choose WAV. The mp3's are smaller
files. You can put in this
information at that point if you want to
Now, minimize the Audacity program.
Let's try this out.
Make sure you're at zero on your timeline. Choose
New Layer / Audio and get the file from wherever it was that you saved it.
And let's see
how I did.
It looks like it might be a little behind.
So I'll trim it.
It needs to be a little shorter at the beginning.
I'll select a little bit from the beginning and
delete that.
Export that under a different name
since I might have to fiddle with this a little bit more.
And back to ZERO on the timeline.
Try it one more time. Good.
So you can see how that gets done
I hope that helps you to
create and add sounds for your projects.
