Today is the beginning, as well as the end.
Today is the end of studies, but for us is the beginning
of a relationship that we see through for many, many years.
We start to greet everybody as they come in the morning session;
we try then to get a couple of pictures, get them out of the way
beforehand with the gowns and everything on.
It's a day to celebrate the three and a half years I've been at the University for,
and just to celebrate with my family and enjoy the day.
Today is quite a big milestone I think in his life because
he's now embarking on the rest of his career; it's given him a good start.
Coming to this university and studying is very exciting and today
I was very happy for the Graduation;
you feel like you've accomplished so many things.
Once everybody's gathered we then start to make sure everybody's got their gowns on,
all the academics, and then join everybody downstairs,
once everybody is seated and we all get lined up in the correct order for the procession.
The procession starts and out we go onto the stage and off we go.
I think it's a very big achievement for him after three years
and this was my first family member, my son achieved a degree,
and we all family are very proud and very happy.
It's moments like this you cherish and
you remember for the rest of your life,
when you're old and grey and you've got your own grandchildren.
We've just come in, getting our robes on, taking a few pictures,
it's a way that you can share with all your family what you've achieved.
The beauty of having it here is that there is the option for them
to have look round and explore this wonderful Stadium of Light
and make a little bit more of a day of it as well.
Whatever sense of achievement you have as an individual,
it's heightened so much by having people close to you there, to recognise that with you.
I thing the ceremonies are important as a rite of passage,
I think it is really important to celebrate success and achievement,
and especially when that has been done with an awful lot of hard work and endeavour,
and I think it's only right that we mark that point in time.
