Hi everyone and welcome to my first update for the "North Africa group build" by Nigel Wells.
As you can see i got some work done on the kit, its more or less ready for painting.
The kit is not bad, but there are some things that annoy me a lot.
The engine bonnet does not really fit, there were some quite deep gaps.
I´m not sure whether this supposed to look like that or not, in my opinion it looked weird,
so i filled the gaps a bit with Mr. Surfacer, they are not that prominent anymore.
The canopy top can only assembled in expanded position, its quite hard to align the parts. The fitting accuracy is not the best.
I solved the problem this way: I glued the rear part of the canopy top and the bars in place,
The top part will be attached later, the parts are aligned now, so there should be no fit issues later.
There are also these side parts included which belong to the canopy, but they don´t really fit.
Back here you get some weird looking gaps, this should not happen.
I decided to leave them off, on most reference pictures you can´t see then anyway.
Most likely they are curled and attached inside, i´m not sure how this exactly worked.
The interior is empty for the most part, i will paint the seats and steering wheel separately.
Another bad thing are the wheels, they consist of two plastic halves.
The fit is bad, you end up with large gaps, there is no way to avoid that.
You have to fill those gaps, therefore you will destroy the tire profile.
I have to figure out how to carve the profile out myself or we assume the tires are worn out.
Thats something i can easily imagine during the useage in a desert. I have to find a solution for this problem.
Apart from that i like the kit, the assembly is not hard.
It features a complete engine, thats pretty neat.
However, there are some issues with this thing that annoy me quite a lot.
As soon as i figured out the tire problem i will prime and paint it.
Thats it so far, i hope you enjoyed it.
See you in the next video, your Hamilkar Barkas.
