The SAB pop-up shop was an idea we though of
at the end of last year. We put a proposal into
RMIT who had an opportunity for NEIS participants
and other RMIT students to showcase their products or services.
Many of the occupants of the space are NEIS participants,
or NEIS students who are starting their own businesses.
The new enterprise scheme is all about
helping you start your own business through
the marketing, finance, putting your ideas properly
into the works.
The challenges of operating a retail space is
knowing who your market is, when are the best times
and if you set-up properly, where are you gonna get peoples
attention to come and have a look.
What we're finding with the pop-up shop is that we are
providing mentoring in areas such as marketing,
developing marketing material and how to get a quick
response to marketing.
Viral marketing, ummm, and also in areas of
visual merchandising.
The RMIT course has definitely given me the support
to be able to start it.
And the continuing support will allow me to grow it
and, umm - I guess things like having an ongoing mentor
and just feeling like part of a community here.
I have found the support of NEIS people have been great
in the areas of teaching you how to market your business,
how to get it out there, work out your finances and
give you that support through mentoring.
We strongly encourage any RMIT student or teachers
to contact us if they think that they can utilise that space,
that pop-up shop space, we'd love to hear of ideas
how people might use it.
