Hello, I'm Katherine Ryan and you're watching The Takeout, but do you know who's watching
you? You'll find out later on in the show.
Coming up; Taming mountain tops with Teton Gravity Research.
Gorgeous vocals and dreamy visuals from the lake
Like animations? We've got over a hundred of them in this slick short.
And, ex-lovers brought together by terror.
"Claudia, we're being managed." There are links to everything included in
the show right down there, and if you really like The Takeout, click subscribe, but it's
your world, I'm just living in it.
As I ploughed down the baby slopes in Switzerland
this ski season at a death defying snail's pace, I wondered, who on earth takes to the
peaks nestled amongst the clouds. Well I have found out.
The Teton Gravity Research team have made taming the tops of mountains their way of
life. "It's like no surprise, when you follow your
passions and you live the life that you want to live that you encounter others that are
doing the same, and kinda just, reinforcing that it's a righteous path."
Jaw-dropping vistas, stomach churning jumps, and avalanche avoidance galore. Delicate ski
bunnies need not apply. I'll see you in the chalet for some hot chocolate instead
Lanterns On The Lake's new video is a fantastical
foray into the art of animation.
A lonely red-headed girl, floats through a
dystopian world, to fight a giant octopus and save her village. It's kind of like when
you eat too much cheese before bed and then have really weird dreams.
Woah, that's put me right off my calamari.
If I had to choose an actor to play me in
a story of my life, I'm not sure I could pick just one. Meryl Streep, Kate Winslet, Chris
Rock, the choices are endless. I suppose that's how the team behind 'Ruuuun!!' felt...
...when fusing the animations of over a hundred different artists into just one short.
Don't be put off by the super long running time. The filmmakers were so determined to
show love for the hundred artists, that the credits are an astonishing eleven minutes long
But, wait I bow for eleven minutes after each
one of my stand up comedy shows. It's normal. Thank you, thank you Mum and nobody else.
Thanks for coming Mum. Keep clapping. Thank you, same time tomorrow Mum.
In British thriller 'Closed Ciircuit', Eric Bana and Rebecca Hall play defence lawyers
both representing an international terrorist on trial for a catastrophic bombing attack.
- "Truck approaches from the west entrance." - "Mate, mate, you can't park here!"
- "At 10:45..."
And they're ex-lovers, awkward.
- "Do you know of any reason which would prejudice your ability to carry out this case?"
- "No, my lord." - "No, my lord, I know of no reason."
With government secrets, MI5 double agents, and a search for the truth that threatens
their very lives, this film will have you quaking every time you see a security camera.
Which is all of the time nowadays. Bah! There's one. See?
"Dump your bag, dump everything. Get out of there, now."
- 'You know, I have been thinking about you.' - 'Do you miss me?'
- 'Why, yes I suppose I do. What do you say we get back together?'
- 'Oh, well I... oh no, sorry. First I must get back to this very serious *** trial.'
Not the most romantic setting for a reunion, is it?
That's it for now, but if you'd like to watch last week's show, click up there, right on
this lovely lady. Or, down here, to subscribe to The Takeout. That way we get to see you
every week. Bye.
