>> My name is Ashley Bacon; I graduated from Towson in 2005,
with a Bachelors degree in Health Science.
I graduated again in 2009,
with a Master degree in Health Science.
I am currently employed by Carroll County Public Schools,
where I teach health at Pryor's Ridge Elementary School,
which is located in Mount Airy Maryland.
I've always had a personal interest in health.
I grew up as an athlete and both of my parents were health
and Phys. Ed. teachers in Cecil County,
so health was a definitely a priority in our house.
When I got to Towson, I enrolled in a Health101 course,
and after a few weeks, I knew that I wanted
to pursue a career in the health field.
Childhood Health Education became my passion.
Looks like big lungs or something, doesn't it?
I chose Towson because of all that is has to offer.
The faculty are experts in the field.
They provide sound instruction to meet the needs
of so many different types of learners.
When you graduate from the program, you are more than ready
to take on any career in the many areas of health.
The program is well known across the state,
and knowing that I wanted to pursue a career
in the health field, Towson was appealing to me.
As we know, the health field is every so changing,
and Towson prepares you with those skills to embrace
and engage in the changes.
Towson has provided me with many professional experiences.
The school, where I teach, received a national recognition
from the American Association of Health Education,
for providing excellence in elementary health education.
We reach over 500 students, on a weekly basis,
in grades kindergarten through second, and provide them
with the necessary skills that they need to make choices
to live a healthy lifestyle.
Towson has given me the opportunity to make a difference
in the lives of children, and I am proud to say
that my Alma Mater is Towson University.
