So, you are planning an event and you are looking for a wedding coordinator. My name
is Lori Randall, with Simply Divine events, and I'm going to talk about how to hire an
event coordinator. First thing you want to do is talk to friends, family, co-workers
and get recommendations on who you should even contact. And recommendations and referrals
are probably the most important things that you want to do. So, talk to people, other
people have had events, say you're having a bar mitzvah or you're planning a wedding,
a sweet sixteen party, any party that you're planning, talk to the people who have planned
similar parties see what event coordinator they have used. First start that route, if
you have a hard time finding somebody who has used an event coordinator that they liked,
the next step that you want to do is talk to, if you having a venue at a hotel, talk
to your catering manager at your hotel and see what Vender's that they recommend. You
can also, look at your local MPI which is Meeting Planners International, they have
event coordinators on there, as well. You can also, look at International Special Events
Society and NACE Which is National Association of Catering Executives you can also find event
coordinators there, as well. Once you find your event coordinator you're going to want
to take a look at their web site, contact them and set up a meeting. When you're looking
to hire an event coordinator, you want to make sure that you're meeting with somebody
that meets your needs, who understands you, who's a good listener. You also, want to make
sure that they have experience. Talk to them about how long they've been in business, how
long they've been planning events, talk a little bit about their background. You want
to hire an event coordinator who has the background, who has the experience in events, in all aspect
events, not just being the creative side of it. You want make sure their creative, organized,
you want to make sure that they have some sort of background in working at a venue,
at a hotel, a restaurant, so they know all the ins and outs such as your logistics, not
just your planning part of it. So, those are just some ways to think about, when you're
hiring an event coordinator, and I wish you the best of luck and have a wonderful event.
